The Journey

"Wake up!" My mom peeked her head in my door and smiled. "Grandma and grandpa are waiting!" My parents are applying for a job far away, and I'm staying with my grandparents until they're back. I actually can't wait to see my grandparents!

I go downstairs and microwave frozen pancakes and go to the car.

In a half and hour I'm boarded on the plane. I'm still in touch with my parents. The plane ride seems to drag on and on. Finally, when I get out my grandparents are there to greet me!

"How was your plane ride?" my grandma asks as she releases me from her tight, loving hug.
"More importantly, did you get free food?" My grandpa smiled as he hugged me and walked me into their car. My grandpa drives as my grandma say in the back with me.

"Our house isn't far from your school, so if you wanted you could walk."
My grandma told me everything there is to know about that little town, what bakery is the best, where to shop, where phone booths are, where the carnival takes place. Everything!

Once I got settled in my room I just unpacked my journal. I had to write what happened or I'm afraid I won't remember.

Dear, Dairy

I just love living with my grandparents! I miss my parents of course but once I saw them I forgot about everything! The only thing I'm nervous about is school. It starts next week. Should I be nervous and kinda scared? My grandma thinks no but I can't help it! There's absolutely nothing I could do to warm up my cold feet. Well, I should start unpacking, maybe that will take my mind off of things! I sure hope it does!

Until next time,

Kendall.

I started unpacking right away so I wouldn't be late for dinner. My grandparents are taking me to the downtown diner! I can't wait! After 2 hours I find myself with one box left. Just then my grandpa comes in

"Unpacking?" he asks looking around and nodding his head impressed.

"Yeah, but I only have one box left." I told him

"Go ahead downstairs and relax. I'll get this box." he motioned me to go downstairs.

"Okay thanks!" I was so relieved he said that!

Once I was downstairs I turned on the TV! There was awesome channels! So, I watched and watched until I had to get cleaned up.

I wasted my face, brushed my teeth and put on an AERO t shirt and ripped jeans.

The diner was so old school and amazing! We sat down in red booths with tiny juke boxes by the windows and fancy old tables. Even the waiters and waitresses looked like they jumped through a time machine to the future! Then, somebody waved to me. I waved back happily! Who was it? Do they go to my new school?
