Love on the carpet

Chris POV

This past month without Sam has been my worst nightmare, I came home to find the note and her ring. I called her over and over again, I went out to find her but she had just vanished.
A couple of days after she left, Jenny showed up at my door, telling me Sam had called her and told her what had happened, she agreed to leave me alone as long as I didn't get back together with Sam. I couldn't believe her, I don't know what I ever saw in her.

I was just washing up and having a clean when there was a knock at my front door, I dry my hands and make my way over, I swing the door open and can't believe my eyes.
"Sam?"
"Hi Chris"
"What are you doing here?"
"I was hoping we could talk"
"Talk? Now you want to talk"
"Chris please"
"No"
"Okay. I understand"
She hands me an envelope, and leaves. I go into my kitchen and open the envelope. Inside was a memory stick, a letter and another smaller envelope.
On the memory stick it says listen to me first, I plug it into my laptop and press play.
'What do you want Sam?"
"Why couldn't you just admit this baby was never Chris's why did you do what you did?"
"Because if I can't have him no one can. Of course this baby doesn't belong to Chris. He wouldn't sleep with me while being with you. But the world doesn't know that, my word against his. I will destroy him if you go back to him Sam. Just know that"

The recording stops, she recorded her confessing that the baby was never mine. I see a note on the envelope saying open me next, so I rip it open and a picture falls out. I can't believe my eyes, it's an ultrasound picture. In the top corner I see it says Evans Baby.
Then I open the letter
"My dearest Chris,
I knew turning up at your door would be emotional for you, you have no reason to forgive me. Im sorry for walking out on you but I needed to protect you more then anything.
As you can see, your going to be a dad chris and even though you don't love me and you want nothing to do with me, please know I want you to be apart of this babies life. They need there daddy.

The recording is for you to always have proof, that she made this whole thing up. Just in case she ever tries to blackmail you again.

I can't believe it I'm going to be a dad. I rush out my door and rush to Sam's apartment. I know she was back there because her uncle told me.
I knock on the door frantically, the door opens and I see Sam stood there. I look down at her stomach and then back up to her eyes. I can't help but smile, I walk in, grab her face and kiss her passionately. She completely melts into the kiss, her hands wrap around my neck and mine around her waist.
We pull away for air and I rest my forehead against hers.
"We are having a baby?"
"We are"
I kiss her again, slowly and with every ounce of love I can muster up.
"Chris. I'm so sorry"
I shake my head "I know you did to protect me, I forgive you."
"You can't......"
"Yes I can, I love you Sam, I never stopped. I want you and I want this baby. Please come home"
She smiles and nods "okay"
I pick her up and kiss her deeply, I walk towards her bedroom and we spend the entire night, wrapped in each other. It's slow and passionate and emotional. I've missed her so much.

Waking up with Sam on my chest again, I can't help but smile. I place my hand on her stomach gently. I can't believe I'm going to be a dad.
"Morning handsome"
I look up and see Sam smiling down at me "good morning beautiful" I then Lean down and place kisses on her stomach "good morning my beautiful baby. I'm your daddy"
I look up and Sam has tears in her eyes, I wipe them away and kiss her.
"I love you so much"
"I love you too. Both of you"
I don't know how long we stay there but we just lay in bed, cuddled up together enjoying each and every moment. I'm never letting this woman go again.
I reach over into my pocket and pull out her engagement ring.
"Chris?"
"Sam, I love you. Agree to marry me again please?"
She smiles "of course I will"
I slip the ring back on her finger and kiss it "back where it belongs"
She snuggled into my chest and I hold her tightly.
This is my family and I love them so much.
