The first period of Monday was meant for sleeping. This was a rule I followed religiously since middle school. Spend the night binging kdramas and anime, wake up early and be the first in class, then pass out on my desk while enjoying the breeze by the window and the shade of the tree branches.
After learning how to drive, it has been easier for me to follow my morning routine. But, with the condition of driving my younger brother to school, my plans were often ruined.
Soobin: You said you'd drive me to school today!
Me: You were late. You know I leave before 7:30
Soobin: You could have waited! You couldn't even do that for your precious little brother?
Me: Precious brother my foot. Try to wake up earlier next time.
Soobin: I hate you.
I stuck my tongue out at my phone, just as someone leaned over my shoulder. In a whisper, he whispered.
"The things that tongue could do."
I choked on air as Choi Yeonjun burst into laughter behind me. Hitting my chest to calm myself down, I swallowed and turned to the cheeky boy.
"What the hell Yeonjun!? You gave me a heart attack."
He just laughed harder. "You're just so easy. I'll never get tired of teasing you."
I ignored him, clearing my throat. He had always loved to get me flustered.
"Who were you texting Princess?" He hummed.
"None of your business. Go away Yeonjun."
He pouted. "You always chase me away these days."
"Because you're being distracting."
He rested his face on his palms, looking up at me with glittering eyes. "With my handsome face?"
Maybe.
"With your grade school pick-up lines," I said instead.
He gasped. "My pick-up lines have been praised by many, how dare you call them 'grade school' level."
Ever since the beginning of high school, Yeonjun and I had an awkward relationship. We could be called friends, but was that really true when he openly flirts with me at any given chance? I've accepted that it was just his way of joking around, but as any normal teenage girl would feel, it was a pretty low joke. Of course, the hottest sweetest guy in class wouldn't seriously like you.
But it was just so infuriating. How I could either burn up or completely melt on his every word. One time, I had been talking to my friends not knowing he had been paying attention.
"But raccoons are just soooo cute, I don't understand why you guys call them rats!"
Yeonjun had looked up from his notebook with a frown. "You think raccoons are cute?"
I opened my mouth to defend the adorable creatures, when he winked, "But you're cuter."
I turned red while all my friends gasped. He started laughing, and my embarrassment went away. He didn't mean what he said, he was just showing off his smoothness to my friends. Disappointed, but what I had expected.
"You're head in the clouds again Princess?"
Snapping back from my thoughts, I glare at him. "I don't have time for this, I have beauty sleep to catch up on."
He chuckled but got up to leave. "Sweet dreams Sleeping Beauty." He kissed the top of my head before going back to his seat.
I froze, blood rushing to my cheeks.
