Dear Diary,

I've known her since forever.

I grew up with her. She had always been a part of my life, and I can't imagine a future without her. I loved the way she laughed, how her eyes disappeared and the apples of her cheek flushed red. I loved how she'd hold me, I loved how she understood me.

It didn't take me long to realize that I was in love with her.

But of course, she only saw me as her friend. She treated me like her brother. I wanted to change that, but could I? Will she grow distant? Will she ignore me?

I can't live with that. So I stay quiet.

But she began to change after that summer.

I had spent the entire summer with my cousins in the countryside, so I hadn't seen her for a couple of months. A day before school, we decided to meet up.

God had she changed.

Her shoulder-length hair had grown long, and she had cut bangs to frame her cute round face. The shape of her eyes had slightly changed, wider and thickly framed with lashes.

Also, puberty hit her hard. Hard. Nevermind.

But I wasn't the one who was shocked. She took one look at me and gasped as she had just run into a celebrity.

"Choi Soobin what happened to you?"

I was confused. I just wanted to pull her into my arms, tell her I missed her, and breathe in the familiar scent of her shampoo.

But the brat just punched my arm, grinning from ear to year.

"You had a glow-up without me, bro!? You're a fuckin giant!"

I looked down at her. Since when did I have to look down to meet her eyes?

"You're smoking hot! What's wrong with your face? Where is the nerdy shy boy smile and the emo bowl cut?? What happened to your skinny ass? WHY ARE U SO TALL."

It took me a while to register that. She just called me smoking hot.

"Well, I guess some things don't change." She smiles. "You still can't take a compliment. You're as red as a tomato."

"Shut up." Those were the first words I said to her after such a long time.

She squealed again, slapping my shoulder. "What's with your voice? What happened to your squeaky voice? When did it get so smooth- omg my best friend is a total heartthrob now!"

I cover my face, burning with embarrassment. "Please shut up."

She giggles, the sound like crystal bells. "Okay okay~ I will swoon over in your secret then."

What does she mean by that?

"Now c'mere." She holds out her arms. "It's been a while."

Eagerly I wrap my arms around her, and instantly I realize why she was so shocked.

I could rest my chin on her head.

"Why are you so small," I murmured, and she hit her head against me.

"I told you. You grew like, 20 centimeters in 2 months."

"I didn't realize I changed so much. My entire body feels foreign now."

"Hey. You're still you. The Soobeannie I know and love."

Love. She buries her head deeper into his sweater.
