"Are you sure this is a good idea Gyu?" I asked as Choi Beomgyu, my best friend, took out spray paint from his bag.
We were currently in his friend Taehyun's room, planning to play a prank by vandalizing his cupboard.
"Of course. He's going to get it painted soon anyway, so the professionals will cover it up." He grins mischievously.
"Then how is it a prank?" I ask as I help him prepare the area around the cupboard so the paint won't get on his walls.
"We're going to write 'Taehyunnie Pabo' on it." His grin turns wide and evil. "It's going to be hilarious when he sends it to get painted."
I pause in shock, then break into a wide grin, holding out my fist for a fist bump. "You genius."
"Let's do it with white paint, it'll be easy to cover up," I suggest. "It's the least we can do for him."
Beomgyu pouts. "I wanted hot pink."
"Then you're finished if you get caught," I warn him.
He frowns. "If we get caught."
"Why do you need me anyway?" I roll my eyes.
His evil grin was back. "I want you to write 'Taehyun is an idiot' in English on the sides, just in case he gets it done by a foreigner."
"Oh, you smart boy." We fist bump again.
Beomgyu and I have always been partners in crime. Putting salt in people's drinks, stealing food, and drawing on people's walls, we did every prank in the book. We had drifted apart just a bit when he moved houses to live with his friends, but we were still very close.
Also, the short distance made me realize something. I felt weird not being with him every second of the day. After befriending other people, I started to notice how my friendship with beomgyu was so different from the others. One thing was, we were very touchy. We always held hands, hugged often, and very rarely, he'd kiss my forehead. Those little things made me feel extremely weird as if someone was tickling me. I also felt different from him. I can't describe it well, but I can say that with my new friends... I felt like they were my friends. But with Beomgyu... it felt romantic? Like we were made for each other?
I know I'm just being delusional, probably after reading too many web novels. Our friendship probably feels different because we've been together for more than a decade.
"What are you thinking about?" He asks as he shakes a can of pink spray paint.
"About what will happen if Taehyun finds out." I lie smoothly while replacing his pink paint with white. He pouts, but I firmly put the pink paint back into the backpack.
"You're no fun." He crosses his arms. I giggle at his cute expression and shake my own can, ready to flex my English.
Twenty minutes later, we both proudly admire our work. Even if we just wrote 'Taehyun is an idiot' in two languages, we did our best to make it pretty.
"Not bad Yang Y/n." He puts an arm around me.
There's that feeling again.
"You did pretty well yourself Choi Beomgyu." I ignore it and smile at him. "I can't wait till Taehyun gets a look at this."
"Well we need to leave the scene of the crime first." He advises, turning us around to leave the room.
We give a final look at our art as we reach the door, then smile, imagining Taehyun's look when he finds out. I grab the door handle and push outwards but...
