The first thing you remembered when you opened your eyes was his name.

Huiningkai.

Even if you remembered nothing else, you remembered his name, his face, his voice.

But most importantly, you remembered that you loved him.

You had woken up in that unfamiliar hospital room and met with people you didn't remember. As a boy who claimed to be your older brother sobbed uncontrollably beside you, the doctor had explained how you had gotten into a serious accident. He said you had amnesia, and wasn't sure if your memories would come back.

"But I remember someone." You had murmured. "Hueningkai, who's that Soobin?"

Your brothers eyes had widened at that name.

"He... he's someone who left you..."

"Really? But I loved him so much, did he really reject me?"

Soobin wouldn't meet your eyes.

"I wrote letters didn't I? Every week, I'd write a love letter and send it to him. He never replied did he?"

"Let's talk about this later, let's get you something to eat."

You stopped Soobin by the sleeve as he got up to leave.

"Paper, envelope and a pen." You said, childish excitement in your eyes.

"Why do you even bother? He'll never reply."

"Please Soobin, I want to try it, and see if I remember more about him."

He had looked at your hopeful face, and sighed.

"Okay."

The feeling once you sat down with your paper and pen was indescribable. Like refreshing deja vu.

"How long have I been doing this Soobin?" You asked your brother by the window.

"Fifteen years." He murmured. "Didn't miss a day since high school."

 "Damn, I'm a creep."

Nevertheless, a quiet excitement filled you as your pen touched the paper. It felt familiar, and welcoming. Before you knew it, the words were writing themselves.

Dear Kai,

You've always been kind to me. You've always been there for me, when no one else was. Maybe that's why I fell for you. You were my guardian angel, my saviour. You who shined so brightly held out your hand to my dark self, and illuminated me from within. I will forever thank you for that.

"Do you remember anything?" Soobin asked as you folded the letter.

"Mm." You smiled. "I remember writing my first letter. I was so reckless and hopelessly love struck, I'd spam the poor boy everyday. I think I slipped the letters into his bag every morning when he wasn't looking?"

"Do you remember anything other than that?"

"No..."

Soobin sat down next to you, and stroked your hair. "Its okay. You'll remember one day."

You didn't quite understand why he was so sad. You had remembered something, wasn't that great? And why did he not like Huening? As an older brother, he probably hated him for ignoring your consistent efforts.

But as you sent your letter off to Soobin to mail, your heart fluttered in excitement. It was as if you rewrote your first letter, as if you were falling in love all over again.
