He awoke, his body not aching from the ground, but soft and gentle. Ant brushed hair from his eyes. Velvet had his arm around his waist, asleep beside him.

He did not want to move, tracing his jawline with his thumb, watching as the light flicked color over his face, as rich as dark chocolate. He watched as his eyes crept open, a smile appearing.

They did not speak.

A king who bathed in sunlight, the prince who fell for him, forever more. It was more certain than death, but still, his eyelids grew dark with the fear he will not feel it again.

And on those days, as gentle as feather, he would kiss him, and he would feel the power.

He was not a poet, nor a god, but he was enough.

"Morning, Dream." Tubbo beckoned, streching stiffness from himself.
He looked to him, gripping his mask and placing it in his hair.
"Good morning." He replied.

They had made sparring a habit, bandages covered Tubbo's arms, reaching to shoulder. They had become close friends, Velvet seemed more distant now.

"How did you get top royal guard, Dream?" He asked, sipping water while they rested after their match.
"Your mother hired me long ago, at first i was a tutor." He told.

"She thought i was more fit for guard then tutor, i would always find myself holding your brothers hand and guiding him home when he'd get carried away."

Tubbo stifled a laugh, wiping his lips with the back of his hands.
"I haven't spoken to Velvet in a while," He leaned backwards, rolling his shoulders. "he's been busy, you know, like King's are."

"It is very demanding, yes." Dream said, standing and wiping his sword. Tubbo thought to himself. "I would like to be King one day."

He looked back at him, a smirk on his lips. "Velvet would have to step down, if thats what you wish."

He shrugged. "Velvet would not do that to me, even if i asked. He does not want me to lose myself in royalty."

"He is only looking out for you, Tubs."

He sighed. "Sometimes i wish he wasn't the King, maybe i would be able to speak to him more."

He understood.

Velvet seperated from him, picking up clothes and oils, leaving.
Ant laid in an empty bed, getting up and undoing the extra cot, as to not break their image of the 'friends'.

He stepped into the dining room, greeted with the usual morning breakfast he had missed so dearly.
"I've been getting better!" Tubbo shouted, him stepping into an unknown conversation.

Velvet scoffed playfully, looking to Dream. "Go easy on him, he has scars all over him."

The guard nodded, focusing his attention on Ant sitting. "Morning." Dream greeted, a simple wave.
"Yes-" He cleared his throat, turning toward him. "Morning, Ant. How was your rest?" Velvet asked, a smile wide. He kept a giggle in, resting his head against his hand.
"It was better than i expected, very comfortable."

"Very good."

The two other men squinted, looking to eachother and trying to gauge what inside joke they had missed out on. "I too slept well." Tubbo said. "I didn't ask." Velvet replied, messing with him.

"Fuck you." He said, crossing his arms and arching his head to the ceiling. Dream swatted the back of his head, he quickly pressed his hand to the harm. "Curse you." He corrected himself, rubbing the pain.
