In the horizon, Velvet heard a shriek of pain, followed by a loud thump. He was not sure who's soldier it was. Dream expected him to tremble in fear, but he was steadier than ever, his lips straight and his hand clasping the sword handle.
"They have begun fighting Velvet, are you ready?"
He nodded, holding his breath in anticipation.
With that, he ordered the men behind him to charge, the flower fields quickly becoming a sea of armour and anger. Dream watched as he cut a mans throat, blood splashing his face before he fell.Velvet did not take time to think of what he had done, he continued.
They progressed past the few soldiers easily, stepping closer and closer to their camp.Velvet felt a grip on his leg, quickly pulling himself from the grasp and flashing his sword. A boy laid shielding himself under a rock, it was Tommy.
A man behind him swung, expecting threat. "NO!"
Velvet screamed, caging Tommy in his arms to protect him. The sword slashed his back, he groaned at the pain. Dream quickly stabbed the man who harmed him, though it was his own soldier. He fell on his stomach, eyes wide."Are you okay, Velvet?" The guard asked, dropping his sword to the earth. "It is merely a cut," a sound of pain cut himself off, making Dream worry.
"please, take him to our camp. Make sure he is taken care of there."He saw his untrusting eyes, he did not blame him.
"I will be okay, i will come back alive." He promised, hearing steps hurrying toward them in the distance. Dream felt the boy grab his hand, and he knew if he stayed for much longer he would become food for moths.
He took a shaking breath, looking down to Tommy. "Please, be safe." He asked of him.
Velvet nodded, picking his sword from where he had dropped it.
"Continue on!" He shouted to his men, them rushing in response.__
Ant felt like a child, covering his ears with his palms and mumbling to himself. He hid in his tent, war coming to him rather than him coming to it. Voices still carried over, he heard one louder. "CHARGE!" He had screamed, followed by immediate obedience.
His hands shook around his ears, hearing steps toward his very tent become louder and louder. He heard the screams of those left behind to guard, blood spilling to the grass. He then saw light open in his tent, he screamed, grabbing a sword quickly.
"Ant!" Velvet had shouted, covering his mouth and looking to see if others had heard them, they had not.
"Don't hurt me- please."
His hand shook around the handle of his weapon, it was useless to him. "I won't, i would never."They stared at eachother, Ant still backing himself into a corner, his belongings either broken or relocated in his panic.
"Will you kill me?" Velvet asked, voice low.Ant shook his head. Never.
His eyes fixed their previous hardened expression, closing them gently. "Do not die, i will come to you after all of this, and we shall be happy."
Ant quickly nodded, watching as Velvet backed away and went to leave. "Wait!-" He whispered, grabbing his collar. Velvet looked up at him. He pressed his lips to his gently, a farewell.
He brushed hair from his eyes, seeing him smile.
"Goodbye."Velvet closed the tent hatch, looking around and seeing men painted with red and holding sacks of gold and resources. "We could not find the Queen, nor the Prince." A soldier had said.
"We must make haste, they might be headed to our homeland." Velvet said, standing and feeling the throb that was still prevalent across his back.
The camp was nothing but dust and ruin, Ant peaked out from his tent, it being the few that stood.
