MAIKO.

cw// creepy men, sad thoughts.

"The beach?" Haruhi furrowed their brows in confusion and I peered over at them curiously.

"Of course the beach!" The twins smiled,
immediately being shushed by the librarian. Haruhi and I were studying together in the library to catch up on some work, but unfortunately, barely an hour had passed before we were interrupted by the mischevious twins.

"But why?" Haruhi asked again.

"Don't you remember?" Hikaru grinned.

Kaoru continued. "You said you'd like to go to a real beach!"

I chuckled, looking down to skim my notes as I listened to them talk in the background. I fiddled with my pencil in one hand as I read— which was a habit of mine that most people found annoying.

"Did I say that?"

The next thing I knew, Haruhi and I were being dragged into the music room. I wore a baby pink sundress over my bikini — it was similar to the other one, but this one had minimal mauve detailing. And after a short ride, we made it to an Ootori private resort.

The pros: it was absolutely breathtaking and the weather was lovely.

The cons? They invited the guests too.

That meant that everyone was preoccupied working to entertain all of the girls and I would most likely alone. Great.

I sighed on the blanket I was sitting on next to Haruhi. A large umbrella was preventing the sun from frying us to the bones. "I didn't realize that you guys would be working while we were here," I grumbled, bringing my legs to my chest. "I wouldn't have come if I knew." I felt bad for feeling annoyed, but I couldn't help it. I was under the impression that I would be spending the day at a beautiful beach with my friends. Apparently, that wasn't the case.

"Yeah, this sucks," Haruhi agreed with a frown. "I thought going to the beach meant a day off."

Directly in front of us, much to my distaste, was Tamaki. He was sitting atop a rock in the shallow part of the sea next to a girl with his arm around her shoulder. On the sand nearby was a line of girls waiting for their turn with him.

"Haruhi-kun, want to come in the water with us?" I stood up and brushed the sand off my dress, giving the girls a sweet smile.

"You can sit here with them, they don't like water much," I offered. They gave me a bright grin and thanked me repeatedly.

Haruhi gave me a concerned look. "Are you sure, Maiko? You can stay with us."

I shook my head, not wanting to get in the way of their host duties. "I'll be alright, Haru. Have fun!" I waved goodbye as I travelled to find a new spot.
