It was almost 6:00 am and Aurora was sitting in the Barton's kitchen drinking her 3rd cup of coffee. She hadn't been able to sleep since her imagination kept going back to the idea of running away and she was leaning towards the idea of doing it.
Aurora was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard creaking coming from the stairs. She expected it to be Steve or Natasha since they were both early risers but instead, it was Clint's daughter Lila holding a stuffed bunny in her hand.
"I'm sorry. Am I disturbing you?" Lila asked shyly. "No way. Come downstairs." Aurora said smiling. "Why are you awake so early?" Aurora asked. "Why are you awake so early Miss, Aurora?" Lila mimicked. "I asked you first munchkin." Aurora teased and smiled as Lila huffed in fake annoyance.
"I had a scary dream," Lila admitted looking down at her bunny. "Oh. Do you wanna talk about it?" Aurora asked Lila shook her head. "Okay. Do you wanna know why I'm awake?" Aurora asked and Lila nodded.
"I had a scary dream too," Aurora told her and watched as Lila's jaw dropped. "But you're a superhero. Superheros get nightmares?" Lila asked. "Everybody gets nightmares munchkin. It's normal." Aurora told her. "How do I feel better after the nightmare?" Lila asked. "You laugh and talk about things that aren't scary," Aurora said poking Lila's stomach and making her giggle.
"You wanna see something cool?" Aurora asked Lila who nodded enthusiastically. Aurora floated a small ball of water toward her mouth and then dropped it inside, using her water manipulation skills.
"That's so cool!" Lila exclaimed loudly. "What else can you do?" Lila asked. "Have you ever wanted to fly?" Aurora asked and Lila's smile grew even wider.
Aurora used her Air Manipulation powers to lift Lila in the air and move her a little bit then put her back on the chair.
"Again again!" Lila yelled and Aurora gave in and flew her around a couple more times then Lila's stomach growled really loudly.
"Go to the bathroom and brush your teeth munchkin. I'll make pancakes for you." Aurora told the little girl who ran upstairs.
Soon enough most of the Avengers had piled into the kitchen after being woken up by the smell of Aurora's pancakes.
"Hey," Steve said, hugging her from behind. "I missed you this morning."
"Sorry I woke up early," Aurora said turning around and putting her arms around Steve's neck and pulling him into a short yet sweet kiss.
"Gross. Some of us are trying to eat right now." Tony said and Aurora rolled her eyes. "Eat your pancakes," Aurora told him.
Aurora was trying to spend as much time as she could with the Avengers before her inevitable leave. She was either thinking of faking her death or just disappearing but was leaning towards the idea of faking her death for multiple reasons.
1. The Avengers wouldn't come looking for her if she faked her death
2. She wouldn't have to be looking over her shoulder constantly
3. The media would leave her alone
4. She could just be herself
"Aurora?" Steve said breaking Aurora out of her train of thought and Aurora knew that wasn't the first time he called her after looking at the Avenger's rest of their faces. "Sorry just zoned out for a second." Aurora apologized to them all.
"So Lila tells me you made her fly this morning and that you're her new favourite avenger," Clint said. "Jealous Barton?" Aurora asked with a smirk. "I'm not the only one that's jealous look at Nat," Clint said. "I'm just cooler," Aurora said making Natasha and Clint scoff jokingly.
