Chapter 5. The Ultimate Despair

Lucas and the others went back to the now destroyed factory, which was where they last saw Layla and Martin.

Midnight: "they're not here. Where could they possibly have gone?"

Hayley looked around and noticed a bunch of footprints which appeared to belong to a bunch of Monokumas.

Chloe: "don't tell me they got killed by the Monokumas..."

Lucas: "no, I don't think so. There would be blood everywhere if they did. You saw how they attacked our friends. I think they must've ran away, and if that's the case, we need to follow the footprints. There's no way the Monokumas didn't see them run away, so they had to have chased after them"

Midnight: "then lets go, they could be in need of our help as we speak!"

Lucas nodded and everyone followed the footprints, until eventually found an abandoned city.

Midnight: "great, well they can be everywhere in this big ass city"

Lillie then points to a group of destroyed Monokumas. They investigate the area to try and find out what happened. Hayley looked around and noticed some more footprints.

Hayley: "guys! This way!"

Lucas: "wha-wait, hold on!"

Hayley ran off on her own and the others decided to follow her.

Hayley: 'my girls scouts intuition never fails me! Right now I have a strong feeling they were heading this way for a reason, so they have to still be there!"

Eventually, Hayley reaches the top of a hill and she sees the remains or Hope's Peak Academy. She also saw Layla and Jason with two other strangers. She slid down the hill and Lillie did the same. The other three however, stopped as they looked at the school, remembering everything that happened.

Lucas: 'why would they come here...?'

Midnight: 'there's nothing left except bad memories...'

Chloe: 'I have a bad feeling about this...'

The three eventually follow Hayley and Lillie and reach the other group.

Hayley: "Layla! Jason!"

Layla and Jason, who were still holding each other tightly, turn their attention to Hayley.

Layla: "Hayley!"

Layla jumped out of Jason's arms and into Hayley's as the two hugged each other tightly. Layla was still crying as she did so.

Layla: "I'm so happy you're here!"

Lillie decided to walk over to Jason and give him a hug, making his face go red.

Jason: "wh-the hell is this for?!"

Lillie just looks up at him and smiles with tears in her eyes. Jason reluctantly hugged her back.

Jason: "I missed you too..."

Midnight: "someone's grown a bit soft"

Jason: "shut it!"

Eventually everyone stopped hugging.

Chloe: "what happened to Martin?"

Jason: "he...he didn't make it...it was all cuz of Junko and her sister Mukuro. Luckily I took out one the two"

He points at Mukuro's corpse and then at Logan and Crystal, who were still saddened by the death of their friend, Victor.

Jason: "those guys...they saved me life, and then they saved Layla and Martin's...the one on the ground also didn't make it...Dammit...if only I hadn't been so weak and stopped Mukuro fast...I could've stopped Victor..."
