"I'M GONNA BE LATE!!" Shouted a boy, who is now currently darting across Pallet Town in his pajamas.
This is 10 year old Ash Ketchum, who woke up late because he stayed up studying the Kanto region map to prepare for his journey.
He finally reached the lab of the resounding Professor Oak, where he stopped once he saw a crowd of people outside the gate. He sighed as he realized who they were here for, Gary Oak, grandson to the aforementioned professor.
"Well if it isn't Ashy-boy, late again huh?" Gary states, referring to the other tons of times ash had been late to events.
"Doesn't matter if I'm late or not, no matter who I get I'll still beat you!"
"Good luck with that!" Gary laughs, and jumps into his car, driving off with his entourage of cheerleaders. Ash puts off the meaning of that statement and runs up the stairs, almost running into professor oak upon meeting him at the top of the stairs.
"I'm here for my pokemon, professor!" Ash states excitedly, as Oak examines him.
"Are you gonna train in your pajamas?"
"Uh, no, I'll go back home and change first..."
"Good choice, you are the last trainer for today"
Ash begrudgingly walks home, changes, grabs his bag, and runs back to the lab, entering it.
"Ah, your back. I should probably apologize to you, Ash."
"Wait, why?" Ash frowns, starting to get a terrible feeling from this.
"Well, I ran out of starters to give you. And while I do have a pokemon to give you, it's..."
"I want it! I want to go on a journey, I'll do anything! Please professor!"
"...ok." he reaches down and picks up a poke ball with a lightning bolt on it. He hands it to ash and the ball opens, revealing a pikachu. Ash stares in wonder, before picking up the pikachu.
"Hello there!" Ash says excitedly, before getting electrocuted for laying his hands on the rat.
Ash is given his pokedex, poke balls, and a goodbye from his mother before heading out to route 1. He stops to rest and takes out his pokedex and points it at the pikachu he just released from it's wire captivity.
Pikachu, the mouse pokemon. An electric type. Pikachu stores electricity in the sacs inside it's cheeks, and discharges it whenever it feels threatened.
"Or when he feels grumpy..." Ash thought before putting the pokedex away.
They continue on, pikachu willingly but begrudgingly following Ash just to keep from being dragged along. He attempted to command pikachu to battle a pidgey, but was refused so he threw a rock at it, revealing it was actually a spearow. We all know where this is going.
Ash runs, jumps, swims, steals a bike, crashes it, and lies on the ground with an injured pikachu, whom finally realizes who's friend and who's foe. As ash stands against the flock of spearow, announcing to the universe who he is, pikachu runs up his shoulder and uses the biggest thunderbolt to have ever been used. As the two lie on the ground, they look upwards, and see a mysterious pokemon flying through the sky underneath a beautiful rainbow.
