Every story has a hero. Maybe I am this one's.
"Shut the gates!" Someone yells.
Or maybe I am the villain, considering the amount of blood on my sword.
"Your majesty, what do we do?" The same person's panicky voice questions.
"Kill them. Kill them all," The words roll out of my tongue involuntarily.
I feel their eyes on me. Nothing new. But it still sends panic running through my veins.
I collect myself, taking a deep breath in.
"Open the gates," I order.
The eyes staring at me turn wide and terrified.
In the reflection of my sword, I see myself. Blood trickling down the side of my head and my eyes glowing like purple diamonds placed amidst fire.
I look up. May the gods have mercy on my enemies because after what they did, I won't.
