Alexi

"Goodnight Alexi" My manager Tom called out to me as he left the office. "Yeah, Night Tom" I replied unenthusiasticly, you see Tom was a good manager but he could be very persistent. He was always asking me on dates with him or asking me to go out for 'drinks' after work with him but we all knew when Tom asked to go for 'drinks' he meant something else entirely.

That was a No-No for me. Sighing to myself I pulled up my sleeve and looked at the time, 11:24 I didn't want to be out too late, it was all over the news that females were being attacked and taken, I didn't want that fate.
Packing up my belongings that I would take home with me I walked out of my office door making sure to lock it, I didn't want anyone snooping on any of the cases I was working.

"Goodnight George" I say to the doorman stopping to give him a hug. "Goodnight Alexi, be safe on your way home okay?" He mumbles as I squeeze him into a hug. "Always am" I say releasing him and turning away to try catch a cabs attention.

This turned out to be a bad idea as a car sped past me driving into a puddle causing a mini-tidal wave to drench me. Mumbling profanities to myself I swept the hair out of my face and carried on trying to catch a taxis attention.

'Call Jenna you idiot' my conscience shouted at me. Jenna is my room mate, her parents abandoned her when she was 10 and went to live in a different country when they found out that she was different from others. My parents took her in before she could get taken into care and raised her as their own daughter.

"Jenna?" I grumble down the phone.

"Let me guess, you've stayed at work late and you can't catch a cab as it's late?" Jenna cut me off.

"Well that's one way to put it but yeah could you come pick me up please? I'm outside Grey Industries" I say humour filling my words.

"Give me 10 minutes and I'll be there, stay safe" Jenna replied before hanging up. A cold shiver racked my body making me tug at my damp clothing trying desperately to keep myself warm, but not succeeding.

10 minutes passed and Jenna still wasn't here, and worry started to fill my veins. "Come on Jenna, where are you" I mumble to myself walking backwards underneath the building as it started to rain. 'WOW' just brilliant I say to myself.

20 minutes later and Jenna pulls up to the curb winding down the window to her Black SUV with a sheepish look on her face. "Before you say anything I'm so sorry, I couldn't find my car keys and then I lost my phone so I couldn't text you" she rambled on. "But I promise I will make it up to you, Movie day tomorrow?" She asked me with a small grin tugging at the crease of her lips. "You know me too well Jenna, too well".
