As everybody began to make their way back to their homes, Bow and Glimmer made their way back to Bright Moon along with Catra and Adora. Hand in hand, they were finally free. They all walked with their aching feet. Glimmer had teleported them as close to the castle as she could without exhausting herself completely. Bow always made sure that she'd take care of herself, especially because she was still learning her new limits with her growing powers. Neither of them had spoken about the whole "I love you" situation yet, but they had planned to once they arrived home. For now, they walked quietly, enjoying the peace that their surroundings had brought them. They were so ready to sleep, but at the same time there was still so much to figure out.
After making it back to the castle, Bow and Glimmer parted ways with Catra and Adora. Both groups had their own things to tend to, so they said goodnight and went separate ways. Adora showed Catra her room, and Bow and Glimmer made their way to her room. The both of them had flopped on the floor next to each other, looking up at the bright ceiling. They were nervous, so they had laid there in silence for some time. They always told each other everything, so why was this any different? Unresolved feelings, unknown emotions; it was all so scary for both of them. They didn't know what the future held, but they wanted each other in their lives, one way or another. They needed each other, and the recent events made that even more clear. They wanted to be there for each other, and protect each other.
"Bow?" Glimmer broke the silence.
"Yeah Glimmer?"
"What happens now?"
"What do you mean?"
With....Us..."
"Oh. Well, what do you think we should do?" Bow replied as he turned to look at the beautiful girl next to him.
"I like you, Bow. I really like you. And after almost losing you, it made me realize that I don't want to ever lose you and I don't want to be anywhere without you. You make me feel safe, and you've been there for me since day one. I love you Bow." Glimmer expressed.
Bow reached up and gently caressed the side of Glimmer's face with his fingers and pressed his forehead against hers and he looked into her glistening pink eyes. "I love you too Glimmer. This all has shown me that I don't want to let you go. When you were captured by Horde Prime, it was almost unbearable. The only thing I wanted was to get you back and keep you safe. And that is all I want to do now, more than ever. Whatever future events await for us, I want to be there for you and to protect you. I won't let anybody hurt you again." Bow responded, as he gently kissed her forehead.
The two laid in each others arms for what felt like hours. They eventually decided to lay outside on the balcony together. It was dark out now, and the stars seemed brighter than ever now that they were out of despondos. They loved to look at the new constellations. There was a slight breeze, and there were animals rustling in the trees in the Whispering Woods. They felt as though they could stay there forever. They talked about the events of the day, and everything that had happened. They saved the world. They saved Etheria and every surrounding planet from destruction. They weren't completely sure of what the future held for them, but they knew that they could handle it as long as they had each other. The best friend squad was unbreakable at that point.
As the hours passed, they decided it was time to head inside and get cleaned up and get some very much needed and well-deserved rest. As Bow showered, Glimmer had cleaned up her room; as she didn't like sleeping in a disorganized room. When Bow finished, he grabbed Glimmer's hand and rubbed it, letting her know it was her turn to get cleaned up. As Glimmer went to shower, she began to feel this overwhelming sense of sadness and realization. Now that they had saved the world, what was next?
She decided to brush off the feeling and shower anyways. As she got into the shower, she sat in the bottom of the tub letting the warm water run down her back. She missed her mom. She missed her dad. She wanted them back together. And now that Shadow Weaver was gone, who would help her harness her magic? Just then she heard a gentle knock on the door.
"Glimmer, are you alright?" She heard Bow ask from the other side of the door.
"Yeah I'm fine Bow" she tried to sound as believable as possible, but Bow knew she wasn't being honest.
"Can I come in?"
"Okay" she replied quietly.
"What's up? Why are you sitting in the bottom of the tub?"
"I just...I don't really know what to do. My mom is really gone, and my father is still here but he isn't the same. I thought he was gone, Bow; like, really gone. I just don't really know what to think anymore. And with Shadow Weaver gone, how am I going to continue to improve my magic?" she began cry, as her tears mixed with the water running down her face.
"Hey, Glimmer, look at me. Your mom might be gone from our world, but she's still alive. She gave herself up to save you. All she has ever wanted was to save you and give you a life worth living. As for your dad, King Micah, give him a chance. He may seem different now, but that doesn't mean he doesn't still love you. He's a really powerful sorcerer, and I'm sure he can help you with your powers. Just give him a chance, okay?" He slowly pulled Glimmer to her feet, bringing her into a hug in the process. He didn't care that she was wet from the shower, he just wanted her to feel better. He wiped the tears from her face, and offered to help her finish her shower. He got her cleaned up, and then helped her out of the shower.
Glimmer then got dried off and changed, and Bow got changed again as well. He didn't mind the fact that he had to change again. As long as Glimmer was okay, that's all that mattered to him. As they finished changing, they both climbed into bed. Glimmer rested her head on Bow's chest as he held her close. Bow had both arms wrapped around Glimmer, in an attempt to make sure she felt secure. The two laid there in silence for awhile, before slowly drifting off to sleep.
Glimmer still in his embrace, as she slept, had a dream about Queen Angella, her mother. She woke up disoriented, but tried not to wake Bow in the process of getting up. She slipped away quietly and went to the balcony for air. She looked at the stars, hoping they'd tell her what she needed to hear.
"I miss you, mom. I know that I never got to say goodbye, just know that I love you. You were the best mom I could've ever wanted. I know I wasn't always the easiest kid to deal with, but I hope you know I tried my best. She-ra is back, and Adora and the others are safe. We even have a new member of the best friend squad. Catra saved me, mom. I know you might be just as surprised as I was, but she saved me, and we saved her. We're all safe, and back at Bright Moon. I hope you are doing well up there."
Considering she never got the chance to properly mourn the loss of her mother, she figured she could start now. She was too busy saving Etheria to get the chance to say goodbye, and even if her mother wasn't right there, she hoped her mother could still hear her. She wanted to tell her everything she never got to before the Queen was gone. She loved her mom, regardless of how much or little she showed it, and she missed her deeply. She wasn't sure how she would overcome this loss, but she had Bow and Adora, and even Catra. As long as she had them, she knew she could get through it.
As she made her way back inside, she saw that Bow was now awake, and waiting for her to return.
"Is everything alright?" he questioned her with concern in his voice.
"Yeah, I'm okay." she replied quietly with a smile, as she climbed back into bed with Bow, falling back to sleep with ease as he hugged her.
