Chapter Two

I opened my eyes quickly, shooting up to a sitting postition and glancing everywhere at once.

"I see you are awake." A voice spoke, as I turned to round to the kindly face of a woman. She had a weird white and red headress on, but I recognised the chantry symbol embroidered on the front.

"How are you feeling child?" She asked, as I closed and opened my hands and wiggled my toes in my boots.

"Good thank you. Where am I?" I asked, as I looked around to find myself in a stone room, sitting on a blue bed with boards scattered all over the place. Talk about a mess.

"You are in Skyhold my child. We arrived here two days after your appearance. You were asleep the whole time." She explained, as I nodded quietly. "Tell me child, what is your name?"

"Scarlett," I replied, "but some people call me Scar."

"Well Scarlett. I am Mother Giselle. Now that your awake, you should eat, you are expected in the hall."

I nodded gratefully as a bowl of broth was placed in my hands. I scoffed it greedily, savouring the taste of the herbs in my mouth before swallowing and finishing it off. A wooden cup of water was also handed to me as I gulped it down thirstily. I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand before standing up off the bed. Suddenly remembering, I looked down at my side to see a long ragged scar snaking it's way over the side of my stomach. Another one to add to the collection.

"Where abouts is this hall?" I asked, as Mother Giselle rose from her chair.

" Go to your right as soon as you exit the door. There should be some stairs leading down the wall, follow them and you should see another pair of steps. Take those up into a big building and someone will greet you there." She explained.

"Thank you." I replied, as she bowed her head and dissapeared through the door. I checked around to see if there was anything left in the room, and when I was happy I hadn't, I exited the door. As soon as I stepped outside the wind tugged at my hair as I gasped at the view. Mountains framed a windswept valley that ran on for miles. I wanted to stand there for a while and enjoy the view, but I proceded along the battlements. Whoever it was saved me, so I could at least arrive on time. I finally found the steps Mother Giselle told me about. I jumped down a few steps at a time and landed gracefully at the bottom. I looked around the courtyard to see it bustling with activity. Families were settlinfndown and shop vendoras were setting up, only the soldiers were practising in a fenced off ring, grunting every so often. I spotted a set of stairs leading up into a big building with a large set of wooden doors. Looks like the place. I jumped up a few steps at a time until I reached the top, gingerly opening the heavy doors and sliding inside. It was huge. It was still damaged and had scaffolding nearly everywhere but it was huge. A throne was sat in the other end of the hall, but before I could go any further, a dwarf put a hand infront of me to stop me.

"Hey. Your the one the Inquisitor wants to see, aren't you?" He asked, as I nodded. I recognised him slightly, I knew I had seen him before but I couldn't put my finger on it. He had stuble all over his chin and peircings in his ear. But the thing that struck me most was the big ass crossbow strapped to his back.

"Yeah, I am." I replied, as he held his hand out to me.

"Name's Varric. And what, can I ask, is yours?" He introduced, as I shook his outstreched hand.

"Scarlett. My friends call me Scar." I replied, as he nodded.

"Suitable name. How did you get it anyway?" He asked, pulling a finger down his cheek in referance to the scar I had there.
