The Dream

Zach is walking through a forest, the sky illuminated by an aura borealis, snow sitting on the leaves and ground. He saw himself laying on a snowbank, with Mikasa at his side.

???: Is this what you wanted son?

Zach shook his head, looking to find where the voice came from. to no avail.

Zach: I wish I would've died, instead of hurting my friends more. (He stared at the two of them.) To not pain her with worrying about wether I will live or die.

???: Well, Zach. (The figure came into view behind him, a tall man with brown hair and a red jacket put his hand on Zach's shoulder.) Sometimes, We all make sacrifices for the ones we love.

Zach turned his head, following the hand up the man's arm, to his shoulder, and onto his face. It was his father, who died when wall maria fell. He began to cry, his father pushed him out of the way of an oncoming boulder, causing him to die.

Zach: F-father? Where's mother? (Zach looked over his father's shoulder, but saw nothing but the snow covered trees.) Wait, where are we?

Father: You're mother passed on already, telling me to watch after you, she's proud of you son. As am i. But as for where we are, we are inside you're head, Technically you're dreaming right now. (He points to the snowbank with Zach atop it.) All you have to do son, is wake up.

Zach stared at his father for 5 seconds, he turned between his father and Mikasa, thoughts running through his head, he was being torn between staying with his father or staying with his girlfriend. He shook his head violently as he felt his father's hand on his shoulder once more.

Father: I am so proud of you Zachary, You have become a fine man, and a even better soldier. (He took a watch from his pocket and handed it to Zach, wrapping Zach's fingers around the watch.) Just close your eyes, and drift to sleep. 

Zach did so, leaving the forest and awakening on a roof in stohess district, during Annie's attempted escape. Two scouts knelt beside him, handing him a spyglass. The scout pointed down to the street, Zach nodded and looked through the glass. People tried to hold Annie back from shifting into a titan, Zach fired an anchor and raced towards the location to help, only to be knocked unconscious by a yellow streak of lightning and steam. When Zach awoke, Armin and Mikasa were staring down at him.

Armin: Are you okay Zach? 

Zach nodded, standing up with the help of Mikasa, her cheeks turning pink as she covered her face with her scarf. He nodded at Armin and shot an anchor to catch up with the Female Titan. Gliding through the streets. The Female Titan swatted at Zach, causing him to raise his blades in defense, when the female titan's hand moved he was back in the forest, looking at Mikasa, his blades still in his hands. He walked towards Mikasa, putting his blades away and touched her cheek with his finger.

Zach: Mikasa, I want to wake up no-

Before Zach could finish he was awoken with a jolt. He scanned the room, heavily breathing. Mikasa looked at him shocked and tears filling her eyes. She held his hand tight and held him close.
