Route to Shiganshina

It's late, I can berely see the lit torches ahead of me, the fog and rain sticks to my cape, Trees on either side of us, I feel a touch on my shoulder it's Jean. He points ahead and I keep walking, following the Caravan of Soldiers and horses, I smell the mix of burning cloth and timber, and the wet grass. I overhear a soldier start grumbling about the wet grass and mud.

Soldier: Ugh, How are you so calm about this? My feet are killing me.

He asks me, But I don't respond. I see Mikasa take a glance at me out of the corner of my eye, She must be worried for my silence, I don't blame her but at the same time, we are supposed to be quiet. This whole situation is weird, First it's dead of night, anything with half a brain can see the convoy of torches stretched along this path. Second, It's too quiet, Yeah I understand Titans can't be active at night but it's still unsettling.

Jean: Zach you alright? You're spaced out again.

Zach: Yeah, I'm alright, Just thinking is all Jean. How goes the newbies?

I catch a mumble... Something along the lines of 'Let a titan eat them' but I could be hearing things. I nod regardless.

Timeskip, Early Morning.

The Scouts have been walking for hours, Their Horses are tired, My feet are drenched and I am surprised if I don't have trench foot. We see Shiganshina... The boulder where my parents lay... Mom... Dad... I'm home. I veer off to the side, to get closer to the boulder, I know Erwin sees me, No doubt the traitors do too, But I need to see them if I am to die here, I need to see my Parents. Upon approaching the boulder I see the dried blood on and under the boulder, I wish i could get Eren to move it, But not now. Now we Retake our home. I put a hand on the boulder closing my eyes, I can feel the hands of my parents on either shoulder.

Mom/Dad: We are so proud of you, Y/N. We love you.

Tears threaten to break through my closed lids, I can hear and feel them, even if it's just in my mind, This will be the closest I will ever reach for awhile. I open my eyes, new found determination in my heart, I look to the top of Maria, the sun peaking over, much like Bertholdt did all those years ago. I look to Mikasa and nod before Engaging my ODM gear and scaling the wall, in the faint background I hear the fateful words. "The Operation to Retake Wall maria begins now!"

I love you Mom and Dad, Look out for me this day.
