Chapter 1, Growing hunger

The maids around me were happily talking about the visit of the Cloud kingdom Royalty. In my opinion it was not worth wasting time just to talk so much about something formal like that, but yet again curiousity overcame me and I couldn't stop myself from thinking about them. I never saw them after all.

"Lisa, can you tell me something about the Royalty from Cloud kingdom?,,
The maid who was till now brushing my hair put the hairbrush on the wooden cabinet.
"Oh sweet Ithil,
They're so happy within.
And they lost their child,
But it never comes to their mind.,,
She said as she poured me a glass of red wine. Lisa is a one of the maids, she's loyal, quiet and she only talks in rhymes, but no one knows why.
"Asmod informed me that their daughter is still alive.,,
No matter how long you know her, the way she talks about stuff is unusual and can get people lost.
"She is alive, but the family is dying,
To you, my Queen, I'd never be lying!
King and the Queen, they want a war,
But Princess wants to run away far.,,
The more I thought about the things she's saying, the more I get lost..
"So the family of Cloud kingdom royalty is falling apart?,, I took the glass with bloody red liquid and took a sip, letting the alcohol to flood my brain with useless thoughts.
"Yes that is true indeed,
A real help is what they need...,,
"I see...Thank you Lisa. You can go now and go in the library, I heard a merchant came by and we got new journals from him.,,
Lisa quietly nodded, bowed down and left. But the thoughts about the royal family didn't leave. Deep in thoughts, I kept my eyes on the mirror, looking at my reflection, and playing with my hair.

I don't really notice my appearance unless I'm thinking about something...
Unlike my mother, I like my looks, simple yet noticeable. Hair as dark as an empty night sky with a pair of eyes with the color or an amethyst, wearing a dark blue dress with a rose pattern on it.

It didn't take long for me to stop looking at the mirror and get up, making my way to meet my mother in front of the palace, and of course, my mother didn't say a word to me. The sky was clear, like a peacefull ocean, with a bright yellow citrine planted in the middle. But this charming moment was ruined by the sound of horses rushing into the palace garden, stopping just before the flowerbeds full of roses.

"Such a delight to see you again, Old friend!,, My mother said as she greeted the royal couple. A tall green eyed man with his ginger hair slicked back, and a familiarly tall woman with comforting grayish eyes and white hair that stopped by her waist.
"It indeed is, we haven't talked much since your wedding.,, The woman's smile dropped as she said that. "I'm sorry about what happened to your husband.,, My father died in his sleep because his heart stopped for unknown reason, at least that's what the doctor said... But my Mother doesn't seem to mind him not being around. My thoughts were corrupted by my mother's voice.
"This is my daughter, Ithil, she will be the next to carry the crown of the Griffin kingdom family.,,
"Welcome Miss and Mister Madden, I hope you enjoy your visit.,, I greet them and shook hands with them.
The next one to come out of the carriage was a girl with Tsavorite eyes and beautiful blonde hair that stopped a bit under her collar bone.
"My name is Bethany, pleased to meet you Ithil.,, She held out her hand and I happily returned the gesture.

After that we went to the dining hall, me and Miss Bethany were walking in the back while my mother was talking with the royalty.

"So...Ithil,, Bethany tried to break the silence between us. "There's a rumour about you sneaking out of the palace at night, is that true?,,
"No it isn't, I don't go outside of the palace once it gets dark.,, I was lying, I am sneaking out sometimes, but what am I supposed to do when I don't like going out during the day. When we got to the dining hall we all sat down and began eating.

The dinner went by really well and I had a good time, me and Bethany got to know each other and even through my protest she drank a lot of wine. Unfortunately they couldn't go home because one of the wheels on their carriage broke and it was dark outside to walk for about 10 hours since the Cloud kingdom isn't close to ours. So they had to stay in the guest rooms, the couple in the upper one and Bethany in the one next to my room.

I knocked on the guest room door, waiting for an answer from the blonde girl inside.
"Come in!,, I heard not too long after and opened the door.
"I bought you some clothes to sleep in.,, I said and placed a long blouse on the bed.
"Thank you.,, She gave me a sweet smile and started changing, which resulted in me quickly going into my room and of course, closing the guest rooms door and my door behind me. I quickly changed into a similar blouse but with a very light purple color and layed down into my bed, letting sleep to overcome me and lead me to a different world.
