It was a week before Christmas holidays. Soren spent a lot of time with Katrina and Winnie (whom had become really close recently). He always sat with Draco during classes and in the Great Hall. However, Soren realised that Harry preferred to be with his Gryffindor friends, he even thought that Harry was avoiding him sometimes, and was keeping secrets from his best friend.
One day, Soren was walking with Winnie outside of the castle. They were enjoying the last falling leaves. Then, Soren looked toward the horizon, and saw on the path to Hagrid's house, the trio talking about something serious with Hagrid. Soren walked to the trio, dragging Winnie along, while Hagrid sauntered past mumbling something under his breath.
Harry hadn't noticed Soren, and was talking with Hermione about a certain Flamel.
"Nicolas Flamel. Who's Nicolas Flamel?" Soren asked.
The trio turned to him with wide eyes, not expecting the boy to have appeared.
"We don't know." Hermione answered shaking her head with a small smile on her lips.
"Sorry Soren, but we have to go. See you later." Harry interrupted the conversation before the blue-eyed boy could ask any further. He then dragged Hermione and Ron by their forearms up the path, practically running.
"I thought they were friendlier..." Winnie mumbled.
"Yes they are... at least were..." Soren answered.
"It's strange that Granger didn't know about Nicolas Flamel. I thought she was the brightest witch in our year."
"Why? Who is he?" Soren asked.
"I don't know much..."whispered Winnie while scratching his head. "Grandma used to tell me that he was a French alchemist. It is said that he was the one who created the Philosopher's stone."
"Oh yes, I read that the stone can change any metal to gold." Soren wondered out loud, remembering his history books about Middle Ages.
"That's right, but not only that; the stone can also give immortality and cure any sickness."
"Why is Harry interested in the stone?" Soren thought.

Christmas holidays finally arrived. Soren finished packing his case, and now had to wait for Draco whom had big difficulties closing his own case.
"Didn't your mum teach you how to pack your suitcase?" Soren asked, amused by the view.
"As a matter of fact no. We have elves to do it for us." Draco answered, getting angry.
"Move. Let the professionals do it." Soren opened the case to see why it was so difficult to close it, and was taken aback by the way the clothes were lying. He then go to work and started to fold the clothes properly. "Come and see how to do it, I won't do it again."
When they finally got ready, they went to the train station. Draco went to find a free compartment while Soren stopped to chat with Hermione who was going home too.
"It's a shame that Harry turned down my proposition to spend the holiday at my home, Dad would have been happy." Soren said.
"Well he can't, he and Ron have to find-... I mean do their homework!" Hermione said.
"Homework? Really?" Soren asked, sceptical.
"Yes! Homework, we have so much to do! I should go back to my compartment to start it too haha... Bye Soren." Hermione then ran away, confirming to Soren that the trio were hiding something from him.
"She doesn't know how to lie at all." Soren thought. He then went back to Draco.
"There you are! I was going to die of boredom." Draco complained.
Soren rolled his eyes, and sat on the opposite seat. Draco then put out a box with black and white scares painted on it.
"I didn't take you for someone to play chess Malfoy." Soren said, playfully.
"Haha very funny, will you play or not?"
"Of course, but don't you dare complain when you lose."
They played for hours. Soren won every match, but Draco never complained.
"I think Harry is hiding something from me." Soren suddenly said.
"And what do you think it is?" Draco asked.
"It doesn't matter. It's the fact that Harry doesn't trust me that I care about."
"Then don't." Draco said. Soren sighed, frustrated. "I mean it Soren, if Potter doesn't tell you when you are friends, then maybe he isn't as a great a friend as you say he is. I'm sure it's only because he thinks he is some kind of saint." Draco rolled his eyes whilst mentioning Harry.
Soren shrugged. "Checkmate."
"What! Again?! Stop cheating Alston, I know you are." Soren rolled his eyes and chuckled.
Finally, the train arrived in London. The boys embraced each other and promised to write letters, then they went separate ways to their families.

Dear Draco.
I hope you had an amazing Christmas. Me and my father spent it with our neighbour (the one who is teaching me piano). I learned new pieces, so when we are back at Hogwarts, I'll play them to you.
I received your present. Thank you so much for it. I hope you liked mine too.
I'm really excited to come back to school, I always loved Scotland under snow, and I think the castle must be breath-taking.
Again, Merry Christmas Draco, I will see you soon.
Soren Alston

December 26th 1991Dear Soren.
Yes, I received your present. I really liked it. I'm glad that you had so much fun at Christmas, because mine wasn't as fun. My parents invited another family, and I had to spend the whole evening with their daughter whom was really clingy (She is in Slytherin with us, Pansy Parkinson).
You must play piano when we are be back at school.
I miss you very much. Merry Christmas.
Draco Malfoy
