Greninja was shrouded in darkness. He twisted back and forth, searching for something, anything. "Hello?!" He croaked.

Suddenly, a voice echoed. "Greninja, come on! Snap out of it!"

"Ash!" Greninja cried, head turning wildly, searching for him. "Where are you!!"

"Wake up, Greninja!!" Ash cried out one last time, before...

Greninja startled awake. He found that he was moving. Someone was pulling him by his arms. His vision was shrouded with darkness. It appeared that while he was out, someone-possible Lucien-placed a black bag over his head, blocking his eyes.

He started thrashing, desperate to free himself from whom ever had him in their grasp.

It was futile.

"Stop thrashing, otherwise we'll tase you again... or worse." Someone threatened.

Greninja halfheartedly stilled, going limp in their arms as they continued to drag him.

Luckily, he had an excellent sense of direction.

As he was dragged, he counted the turns he took and registered any distinct sounds and smells he came across into his memory. At some point, he stopped for a few moments. However, he felt the floor drop underneath his feet. He realized that they were in an elevator. They didn't drop for long, it had to be one or two floors, maximum. Right before he arrived at his intended destination, he passed a room smelling strongly of human food. A kitchen, or a canteen.

The smell made his stomach growl. He hadn't eaten anything since this morning before training with Ash. He pushed the pains of hunger and the memory of food away. He needed to focus.

He was suddenly being shoved roughly onto a table. He started thrashing wildly. He tried to hit his attackers with Aerial Ace, but he found out that his arms and legs were locked in some sort of restraint.

"Sorry for the rough treatment," Said Lucien, sounding anything but sorry, as he removed the bag. Greninja blinked a few times, trying to adjust to the bright lights. He could feel his heart beating faster and his throat throat constricting with pure fear.

"Be still, and maybe this won't hurt." Lucien advised, before turning his attention of a women with green hair dressed in a white lab coat. "Ava, is everything set?"

"Yes, Sir." Ava replied with a nod.

"Good, then let us begin." He commanded as a man dressed in the same lab coat walked towards Greninja. He had some devise in his hand. It looked like the devise he'd seen Nurse Joy use to run blood tests.

Greninja's eyes went wide.

"Let's see what makes you so special." The man sneered before sticking the device in Greninja's arm, causing him to yelp. Drops of red blood began filling a narrow tube. The man smirked before roughly removing the device, causing Greninja to hiss in pain. He saw that there was a small gash in his arm. The man scowled at him. Greninja scowled back. The man walked over to Lucien and Ava and handed them the tube.

"Excellent." Lucien muttered to himself. They put the tube in some sort of machine and after a few moments, an image of what appeared to be DNA came up. The two began to read off it, muttering to themselves.

Greninja tried to hear what was being said. He caught a few words, the clearest being "new strand."

New strand? What did they mean?

Sure, Greninja knew that he was different from others of his species. He knew that his 'Sensi' -Sanpei's Greninja- and Sanpei could not fuse together like he and Ash could. However, Greninja didn't exactly know how deep his differences were, and where they came from.
