Betrayal

I was born into Amity, I was the daughter of Marcus Eaton. Sister of Tobias Eaton. I was 8 years younger than my brother. We were always so close. He promised me he would never leave each other because we are all that each other had. He told me on choosing day he would choose Amity, so we wouldn't be separated. Dad beat us, and mom died my brother and dad said. So Tobias was all I had. When me and Tobias were younger we learned how to fight for self-defense to protect us from dad, but we were always too scared to use it on him. Tobias always helped me after the beatings and cleaned me up, he was my best friend, my everything, until choosing day....

Y/n's Pov

I put on a leather jacket and walk out the door, the last one out of the house, I catch up with dad and Tobias and playfully punch him and walk beside him.

"Can't wait till you choose Amity at the ceremony big bro, so we can stay together." I smile giving him a big hug. Last month was my 10th birthday, and this month was Tobias's, he's 18 now, and it's choosing day for all the 18-year-olds. Just like we talked about, Tobias will choose Amity and I will on my choosing day in 8 years, and we will never lose each other. We walk into the Choosing Ceremony building and me and Tobias sit down while dad walks up on stage to announce names.

Name after name went by, I didn't pay any attention until I heard dad call Tobias's name. I let him through to the stairs as he ever so slowly walks down them. He walks up on stage and walks up to the table with the different faction bowls on it. He grabs the knife and cuts his hand open. I wince but then continue to watch as he puts his hand over the Amity bowl. He waits there a moment until he moves his hand over to the Dauntless bowl. As his blood drops in the bowl.

"Dauntless!" Dad says questionably, confused as me. I shake my head as tears start to well up in my eyes, 'no he promised, he promised he'd stay in Amity, HE PROMISED!' I let my tears fall as Dauntless cheered as he walked over there and sat down.

After all the names were called Dauntless ran out of the building without even saying goodbye Tobias was gone, just like that.

After me and dad got home, I got the worst beating of my life. I was able to make it back to my bedroom and lay in my bed as my back bled from being whipped senseless. A black eye from his punches and possibly broken ribs from his kicks. I let more tears fall and cry all night until sunrise. I treated the wounds I could. I couldn't reach the ones on my back and without Tobias to help I left them untreated. I got dressed in leggings and a tank and put on some sunglasses to cover my eye. The sun just barely peeked through the trees and I went on a run to clear my head. 'I don't need Tobias, he lied to me, left me, betrayed me. I can do it all on my own' I kept repeating in my mind not knowing that tear fell down my face while my head repeated that over and over again. 'I need to toughen up, I need to take care of myself now, I don't have anyone to take care of me anymore. I'm on my own. Fuck you, Tobias. I'll show you I don't need you.'
