"Hello maam, what can I get for you?"
"Good day, can i have.."
blah blah blah

It's the same thing all day.

"Hyeju!" a familiar voice called from afar

"Yves.." I whispered underneath my breath

"Yo, wanna grab some lunch?" Yves suggested as she wrapped her arms around me

"Sure" I agreed in a monotone voice

Yves and I have been friends ever since I worked in this café. She was the first person to ever approach and help me.

"I hope you all have a great first day in this café and wish you the best of luck!"

As the manager said all those instructions and motivations.

I just stood there not knowing anything. It felt as if the words went past through my other ear.

"Hey, why are you just standing there? Don't you have work to do?" a random girl said as I was zoning out.

"A-Ah yeah.." I responded awkwardly.

I stared at the cash register not knowing what to do.

"Don't you think it's pressuring enough to demand a new worker to do these stuff right away?" another random girl responded.

"Oh.. I didn't know she was new. Sorry about that." the random girl apologized and walked away.

"Hey, I'm Yves by the way." she introduced herself to me.

"Hyeju."

"Pretty plain answer. I like it. Wanna be friends?"

"Sure."

"And.. very straightforward." she chuckled.

I dont know how the fuck our friendship happened right away, but she's a very easy going person and she understood me very well.

"Hyeju." Yves suddenly called me.

"Yeah?"

"Wanna be my partner-in-crime?"

"All of a sudden?"

"I mean.. You're the only person I got along with here."

"I thought you worked here longer than me."

"Yeah.. But that doesn't mean I'm close to almost everyone here."

"I mean.."

"What I'm saying is.. The person who helped me handle these things and people here resigned."

"What? Why?"

"I don't know. She never said anything before and after she left.
It felt as if she abondoned me."

I glanced at Yves beside me with her diamond eyes, almost tearing up. I pat her back.

"Don't worry. You have me now."

Silence and comfort were covering the atmosphere. It felt so nice and comforting.

"I'll be your partner in crime." I broke the silence between us.

"You promise you won't abandon me?" Yves pointed her pinky finger infront of me.

"Promise." Our pinkies interlocked as we smiled at each other.

*PRESENT*

"So what do you want? My treat" Yves offered

"I have money."

"I know that. But today will be my treat. Just choose what you want"

"But-"

"Don't make me repeat myself."

"Okay. Then I'll have that."

We ordered lunch and sat down at the available seats in the area.

"You know Hyeju.."

I turned my focus to Yves and raised my eyebrows wondering what she's about to say.

"You're very nonchalant in things, but I swear that you have a lot in your mind."

Is she reading my mind or what?

"I'm not reading your mind or anything, I'm just curious on what's going on in your head."

Wtf?

"There's nothing really." I calmly lied.

Ngl, There is a lot happening in my mind and I don't think she would want to know any of it.

"Really? Hmm. I guess I was wrong. You're very straightforward."

"Is it bad?"

"Being straightforward? No."

"How come? People hate me for being too straightforward."

"Well, being honest with your judgement isn't bad. Just be careful with your words or else it'll haunt someone's thoughts forever."

"Oh, how abou-"

"Your order is here." the waiter interrupted as he offers the tray of food

"Thank you. You were saying?"

"Nothing." I calmly lied and decided not to continue my sentence.

We enjoyed our lunch and finished it all.

"Let's go. We don't want to be late for work." Yves said as she stood up from her chair.

"Sure."
