After all the ruckus that just happened, we moved on from it and talked our way out of it.
"So, are you a student?" I asked.
"Yeah. But I dropped out in college since my parents didn't have enough money to pay for my tuition." Chaewon said as she drank her cappuccino mocha.
"Oh. I dropped out too and worked here to earn money."
"How about your parents?"
"I don't have one, they all left. I live alone."
"Isn't that scary though? Being alone.."
"Not really. I'm used to it. I can live being alone."
"You're lucky then.."
"How so?"
"Having the thought of being alone.. Just scares me."
"Is it why you never left that psycho ex of yours?" I nonchalantly said without thinking.
"What?"
"You knew he was like that.. But you never wanted to be alone. Correct me if I'm wrong."
"I- y-you're terribly wrong.. Why would say that so calmly"
"Am I being too straightforward? I'm sorry. You can hate me if you want. I'm always like this."
"Why though?"
"What do you mean?"
"Why are you always so straightforward?" she asked me as she looks at me dead in the eyes.
"Genes I guess."
"Is your family like that?"
"I don't know, I never knew them. I came from a foster home."
"Oh.."
We communicated for quite a while and had fun knowing her.
"I had fun today, but I have to go." Chaewon said as she grabbed her bag from the side of her chair.
"Oh yeah sure. I had fun too."
"I'll visit here more often. Thanks for today." she said as she stood up
"No problem." I waved her goodbye and she waved back at me and Yves.
"Hyeju! Come back here, I'm famished for doing your work just for you to talk with that girl." Yves called and complained.
"Yeah, I'll be there." I walked up to her. "Thanks" I pat her back as she gave me that teasingly look.
"What?" I asked.
"Are you gonna abandon me with that girl?"
"Now you're just overthinking things. Move, I'm working"
"Hmm." She squinted her eyes looking at me.
"Come on now, go to work so we'll get home right away."
"Okay then.."
*Few days went by*
I keep glancing at her from afar as I continued working. She doesn't usually order in the cashier right away 'cause she knew Yves is gonna go to her table and get what she wants to order.
"Hyeju!"
I looked at the person who called me, Chaewon.
"Are you free to sit down here?" she asked
"Yeah." I walked towards Chaewon and passed by Yves.
"Have fun talking out there." Yves whispered as she pat my back as we walked pass each other.
"What's up?" I asked as I sat from the chair across her.
"Good, you?"
"Fine too. Why'd you call me?"
"Just wanted someone to talk to, since Yves is busy."
"Yeah right."
"Aren't you busy?"
"I'm planning to work overnight."
"Oh. Why though?"
"Why not? I like working overnight."
"That's a new info."
Chaewon looked at her drink then looked up to me.
"Are you free this Sunday?" she suddenly asked.
All of a sudden?
"Hmm. Yeah, I am."
"Let's meet here, you don't have work right?"
"Nope. But Yves will work here."
"I know. Let's have a coffee talk this Sunday. I have something to tell you."
"Why not now?"
"I'm busy. I have to go somewhere."
"Sure okay. Goodbye I guess."
"Bye Hyeju~" she waved goodbye and smiled at me.
Sunday.. Hmm.
