He looked down on the paper again with a blank stare.

Just some minutes ago the room had been filled with talking people but now it was quiet and only Cullen was there.
One of Leliana's spies had appeared from nowhere claiming to bring urgent and dire news.
First had he thought it was a joke, that Sera had taken her pranks to some new sick level.
It sounded like a joke, that the woman who had survived an explosion that levelled a mountain, a war against Corypheus, having an avalanche fall down on her and much more would fall victim to a dragon attack.
But when Cassandra arrived with the same news he had to acknowledge the seriousness.

He sat down on his desk, with the paper still in his hand. He felt completely empty but must have been in pain for Cole arrived at his side. He looked at the spirit boy that his inquisitor had been so attached to. Cole watched Cullen in silence waiting for him to say something.
Many minutes passed until Cullen decided to ask the question that had been haunting his mind.

" Did she suffer a lot?" He asked and tried to sound steady on the voice but it failed him.
Cole looked at him from under the big hat he worn. Cullen steeled himself for the answer. He knew it was a stupid, but he hoped for a kind answer.

" Blood spilling out everywhere as she tries to crawl away from the beast. Biting her tongue to not scream out in pain. Bones breaking under the weight when it captures her; strange calmness envelops her as she feels the pain vanish. No fear but regret. Regret for leaving so soon and for losing the coin. Dullness, the air is leaving her as she surrender to the darkness.....gone. " Cole slowly looked down as he finished speaking.

Cullen slammed his fist against his desk. The pain in his hand was nothing compared to the pain in his chest. Tears started to fall down his cheek before he knew it. He cursed himself for letting her leave his side, for not being there in her final moment. He had let the person who saved him, who saved them all die.

" It was not your fault..." Cole tried to say but was silenced with a angry glare.

" I should had been there with her, or made her stay here where it's safe. She has already given us so much and yet everyone asks for more. There was no reason for her to leave." Cullen said with a voice shaking from anger and sorrow.

Deep down he knew that not even he would have been able to stop her from traveling and helping others. She was always willingly to help; no matter what and that had been one of the reasons to why he had fallen in love with her.
Silence fell over the room, neither Cullen or Cole moved from their spots. Cullen was the first to break the silence. He cleared his throat and adjusted his clothes.

" Thanks, Cole for telling me ... I would like to have some time alone. " He said and watched as Cole silently turned around and left the room.

Cullen sank down on the floor when he was alone again. He rested his head against the cold stonewall.
He felt a shiver in his body as sorrow yet again washed over him.
Then it hit him that there was someone else that would need to be informed about the inquisitor's death.

Cold mountain air filled his lungs as he left his tower.
He ignored the people in the courtyard and made his way to his and the inquisitor's bedroom.
The servants immediately left the room when he opened the door. Next to the double bed stood a white cradle. He slowly and carefully walked toward it but fastened the pace when a small cry could be heard from it. He lifted up the small child in his arms. The child looked at him with bright eyes.

" It seems it just you and me now my dear... Mommy has gone to the makers side."
