All the of the transfers were in bed and sound asleep, how could I tell? Al was snoring and when he finally falls asleep and stops crying, It means that everyone is out like a light. When a dim glow of a flashlight shown through the doorway and skilled the room, I knew that it was either Four or Eric making sure everyone was asleep and not sneaking around, like I was going to tonight. The light and the person holding it went on down the hall and just after the last bit of light was gone, five or six shadows entered the room and made their way over to my bed. "Tris?" One of them whispered, and I could tell it was Uriah and the other Dauntless initiates that were on my team today. I threw my blanket off and laid out a couple pillows before covering them with the blanket in hopes that if someone did wake up, they would be too sleepy to tell that I was gone.
Before I had jumped into bed I had changed out of my baggy clothes I had been wearing in the hospital and into a black T-shirt, a pair of black skinny jeans with Christina's leather jacket and my combat boots.
Quietly we made our way through the maze of hallways and out of the Dauntless compound and caught the train heading North towards the abandoned part of the Abnegation sector.
Once we jumped off the train it felt weird to be in Abnegation again. It felt like it was something that didn't belong to me anymore. Somewhere deep inside me I knew that this place had value to me, that it held memories, good and bad. However the rest of me knew that this place wasn't mine, wasn't my home anymore.
"Feeling a bit of déjà vu there Trissy?" Uriah said bumping my shoulder.
I simply nodded, there was no need to tell him every dirty detail about my emotional state.
"Let's go!" Someone called out over all the Dauntless. "We wanna be home by sun up!"
We started running towards the abandoned part of Abnegation grounds that I have never been to before, considering it was considered self serving to take walks that weren't to school, work or the factionless shelters.
Whoops and hollers echoed off the buildings and the best part was no one could hear, or see us. It was like we were completely and free to do whatever we wanted, no matter what it was. Nothing could stop us, we were on top of the world.
"Up the stairs!" Uriah said once we got to the tallest building around. We had to take the stairs all the way up? I hoped whatever was up there was worth all this work, because I was going to be tiered tomorrow!
The sound of pounding footsteps echoed off the stairwell walls as everyone fought and pushed one another in the rush to get to the top.
We arrived at the top of the stairs and we walked out onto the roof of the old sky high building, and the view took my breath away.
To my right you could see the unoccupied part of the city, where nothing but fields and grass stretched for miles. On our left you could see the train and the faint light of both the Dauntless and Erudite compounds. And best of all? In front of us was tall abandoned buildings that hid us from the Abnegation compound.
"Tris! Come and look." Uriah said pulling me to the edge of the group.
An older Dauntless man was standing by the ledge beside some weird wire as well as a couple of the Dauntless born boys.
I wonder what we were doing up here?
"I swear if I have to jump off a building again I'll kill you." I whisper to Uriah, and he just smiled.
"Zip-lining, whose first?" The man asked, and a short boy with floppy brown hair shot his hand up high.
"Alrighty, the rest of you line up!"
Everyone lined up (Uriah and I at the front. Thank Uriah for that) and watched as the man tied some sort of rope around the boys wait and latched him onto the wire.
Confused, I watched intently at what they were doing.
The boy laid down in a net type of thing that was made out of a thick material.
"1, 2, 3!" The man counted down before he pushed the kid over the ledge and sent him shooting down the line!
In the distance, you could hear a faint "WHOOOOOOOOOO"
"Woah!" I said in awe.
"Who's next?"
Uriah pushed me towards that contraption, "She is!" He volunteered.
The man looked at me with discussed and I think he mumbled "rotten Stiff" under his breath as he collected up the equipment.
The rope was tied snugly around my hips and I was latched onto the wire.
"Lay down." The man commanded.
I looked at Uriah and he gave me a supportive smile and nodded.
I flopped into the net on my stomach and clutched the little handle at the front.
I didn't understand how some people were scared of heights, I found it amazing to be up this high, watching the world below.
"When you are about 50meters from the target pull this trigger." The man said pointing to a handle above my head.
"Ready?" Uriah asked.
"Ready."
They counted to three and I was off, shooting down the line like a bullet, just like the boy had done.
My hair whipped behind me and it felt so good to have the air on my face.
I pealed my eyes open and noticed how hard it was to look forward, so I looked to my side and saw my reflection in what was left of the glass windows in the buildings. I felt like I was flying, soaring through the sky like a jet plane.
I couldn't help but let out a loud "WHOOO!" just like the other kid had done.
All too soon I saw the target ahead of me and I heard all the Dauntless at the bottom yelling "PULL IT!" and pumping their arms.
I reached up and tugged on the leaver as hard as I could.
A loud screeching noise bounced made my ears ring, but I slowly game to a stop just before the target.
Several hands were pulling at me, trying to unhook me from my harness in time so the next person won't collide with me.
A young woman grabbed my arms and hoisted me down from the net so the other girl could take it down.
I was just gaining my balance when I hear a blood curdling scream coming down towards us.
A black dot was speeding down to us, and it surprised me that that was just how fast I had been going. It was lightning fast!
We heard the loud screech and none other than Uriah stopped in front of the target with his eyes glued shut and his knuckles white from hanging onto the leaver so tight.
He jumped down and ran over to me.
"Was it worth going up all those stairs?" He asked.
I nodded happily, "How about you? Did you like it?"
Uriah nodded slowly, "Yes, but I wish I would has opened my eyes I instead of scream bloody murder."
I laughed and leaned against him, "I might just do that again, but not today, I'm way to tiered."
Uriah began to say something but I didn't hear him because I slumped and fell asleep.
