7. IF ALL WE HAVE IS TIME

  THE DRONE MOVES TOWARDS the boat and I almost scream but then, it's all taken away. Like something sucked it out of me. The sight of no gold. "It's not there—just pull the drone up," John B is defeated. "Look, we can do another pass. Recharge the battery. We—we can go back down." Pope tries his best to help John B but he already walks away. "We've been through it three times, there's nothing there!" J shouts making us all yell at him to shut up. "What? It's true!"

"The gold could be buried!" Kie shouts back as a desperate attempt to keep the hope alive. "The sand or something could've gone over it over the years!" I throw another suggestion out. "If it was there, it would've been found on the metal detector, okay?" He's hurt and confused and probably wants to punch something. "Somebody beat us to it."

"Or it was never there," JJ says quietly but I hear him. "JJ, stop it!" I yell but he ignores me and continues driving the boat to land.

    John B drops us off at our houses but JJ comes with me back to my place. We're going to see a movie on like a big screen. Kie says it's cool so I'll just trust her. JJ and I are wrapped around each other, just sitting in silence with the occasional giggle from the other showing the other one something on their phone.

"I don't think the gold was there, JJ," I stare up at him for approval on my theory. "I don't either. It would be kind of dumb for whoever left it in the first place to leave it in the most obvious place."

Okay, so he agrees and I'm not fucking crazy. I sit up to look at JJ, "I wanted to say that but everyone was so upset, I thought it would make it worse." I stare at JJ laying below me. I wanna fuck with him. Annoy him a bit. My leg goes over JJ's torso so now I'm straddling him and he shifts below me. His hands find my hips and a smirk forms on his face, "What—what y'doing?"

"Sorry, did you not want me to?" I smirk knowing he would never deny me sitting on him like this. "Now, you know damn well, I like this," His hands move up my shirt and it sends chills all over my body. I smile and lean down to kiss him.

Of course that leads to us making out and frantically trying to get the others clothes off. "You okay?" JJ says in between kisses which makes my stomach do cartwheels. "Always with you," I smash my lips into his. His hands find their way up my shirt again and I back away and lift my arms up for his to take it off and go back down to him.

"Sam, your mom—Oh, my God!" Our heads immediately snap to my door and I see Vanessa standing in my doorway with her hands over her eyes. You've got to be kidding me. "Vanessa! Leave!" I shout as JJ tries to wrap a blanket around my top half that only has a bra on. "Your—your mom, she needs you downstairs—"

"That's great, fucking knock next time, idiot!" JJ grabs my hands in an effort to get me to calm down but Vanessa still doesn't leave, "Leave!"

"I'm going on the ferry and jumping off midway to cleanse my eyes!" She shouts after closing the door. I scream in frustration and lean down into JJ's shoulder. "She's so—annoying!" JJ laughs beneath me and slaps my ass making me yelp. "JJ!" I move my head to frown at him. "It was there, I had no choice. I gotta go though—I have to do—something."
