The next morning I wake up with a huge smile on my face.
"What's up with that grin girl?", Daisy asks curiously.
"That's me thinking about Owen Parker." I smirk. "What did you just say Islah? Don't tell me you like him. What'd I tell you?" "I know, I know but he's changing." Daisy gives me 'the look' and laughs at me. "Hey!", I yell as I throw my pillow at her while laughing.
"Seriously though, please be careful Islah." "I will Daisy." "Good. Now, how 'bout a little shopping day, huh?", Daisy asks. "I don't see why not", I reply with. "Let's go then!"
After a while driving in the busy city, we end up at one of NYC's most popular malls, the Manhattan Mall.
After practically draining our bank accounts, Daisy offers to buy lunch for us, so we decide on Subway.
Before we get the chance to make it to the food court, I spot a familiar face and my heart starts beating faster and faster the closer we get to him. There he is, Blake- my ex.
"Oh my god Daisy turn around.", I whisper to her. "What? What's wrong Islah?" "Just start walking back.", I say. She looks at me, confused as ever. I sigh. "You see that guy over there?" "Which guy, there's like five." "The blonde one with wavy hair and brown eyes. Wearing a Champion sweater." "Oh yeah, that's Blake. What about him?", Daisy asks in confusion. "You-you know Blake? He's my ex!"
Before Daisy could say anything, Blake yells out, "Hey Daisy what's up?" Daisy looks at me with a sorry look and turns around. "Heyy Blake. Funny seeing you here.", she awkwardly says. "You should come sit with us", Blake offers. "Thanks but we should get going, my friend and I have a bunch of school work to do.", Daisy says to Blake as we slowly start walking away. "Hold up! Who's your friend?"
Daisy looks at me and I just give her a quick nod, indicating that she can introduce me. "Uh Blake, this is my friend Islah." I turn around and Blake looks shocked. "Hey Blake.", I say uncomfortably. "Oh hey Islah, nice seeing you.", he responds with. "Well nice seeing you too but uh we gotta go.", Daisy says to clear the awkwardness in the air.
And with that, we're out of the mall.
"Whew! Glad we're out of there!", I say as we laugh. "Do you just wanna make pizza pockets at the dorm?", Daisy suggests. "I'd love that.", I say as we enter the taxi.
While on the way back I have to ask why the hell Blake is in New York and how the hell Daisy knows him.
Before I could ask, Daisy interrupts my thoughts, "I know what's on your mind. 'How do you know Blake and why is he here?' you're probably thinking, right?" "Wow, you should be a psychic cause that's exactly what I was gonna ask", I say as I chuckle.
"Well, for starters, Blake is here because he goes to our school. I thought you would have seen him around or something." "No, I haven't. I mean I've only been here for like a week.", I respond with. "True. Also, I know Blake because he's in some of my classes and we have mutual friends that all hang out sometimes. You good girl?", Daisy asks as I'm staring at the seat in front of me.
"Oh yeah I'm good. I just thought I'd never see him again. I mean I wish I'd never see him again." "Damn, things didn't end well I'm assuming?" "No, they didn't, and things were never well between us ever anyway." "Sorry girl, do you wanna talk about it?" "No, no it's okay, I'm over him.", I say as I smile.
The truth is, I am over him,
I'm just not over the things he did to me.
