the interview

I don't know whether or not I should tell Blake about this new job. I know he's not gonna like it, especially since I'd be working for Owen's parents. However he has to know eventually so I'll just tell him after the interview is over.

It's a Saturday so I thankfully don't have class today. I get ready, grab my purse and keys and leave. I'm really nervous about the interview but Melissa seems really sweet and welcoming so I'm sure it'll be just fine.

When I get there I can't believe how big the building is. It's so cool how they created this. After the secretary guides me to the interview room I realize it's not Melissa who's doing the interview, but Owen's dad Dan. He's definitely not like Melissa. He is really tall and intimidating and he looks really mean. I didn't think I could be more nervous than I was an hour ago, but here I am. I walk up to him and shake his hand while politely introducing myself. I have to come off confident if I want to sell myself to him.

"Hi Islah, nice to meet you." He doesn't have much of a personality. We then sit down and he asks me a series of questions, the regular boring questions. I'm doing well until the last question is asked. "Last but not least Islah why do you deserve this job?", he asks me while looking at me intensely. "I deserve this job because I um- I work hard and I uh- have wanted an opportunity like this and-" "Hi honey, how's it going?", Melissa asks Dan while cutting me off. She came in at the perfect timing.

I wish she was here earlier so she could've done this interview. "Islah you did great, you can go now." "Oh but um did I get the job? Or do you need time?", I ask him. He looks at Melissa. "I will think about it and talk it over with Melissa.", He tells me. I express a weak smile and start getting out of my chair. "Wait Islah, don't leave just yet.", Melissa tells me. Her and Dan then start whispering some things to each other.

"Dan do you not want her? She is perfect for us." "I don't know Mel, she isn't very confident. That is something that really matters to us in our business.", Dan tells Melissa. "I think she just needs some adjusting. I really think Islah will be an excellent addition to our company." "Okay I trust you honey. You can let her know that. I need to go to my business meeting now, I love you." "I love you too." They're so cute together, I think to myself. Dan leaves.

"So Islah, Dan and I talked it over and we've decided that you have the job." "Oh my gosh thank you so much, you don't know how much this means to me! When do you want me to start?", I ask her. "We can start training you next Saturday if you're not busy." "That works perfectly!", I tell Melissa. "Oh and one more thing Islah. Today is actually the company's fourteenth year anniversary and we usually have a large dinner and get-together to celebrate. Can you join us tonight?" "Yeah I'd love to! And congrats!", I say. "Thank you dear. I'll see you tonight. Dinner is at 6:00." "Okay bye." I smile and leave.

This will be exciting.
