Ch. 2 Meet Cairo Toula

"Congratulations young men for passing our test," welcomes a bulky white hair old man as he smiles at the still hood-covered youth. Nodding his head appreciatively at the plum colored egg, he comments, "it appears like your dragon will be specialized in venom. Please take a seat with the others while waiting for the rest of the other passing youths."

Cairo glances around and analyzes from the other robes that they came from various hierarchies, as told by his father, the Duke of Toula. Unremarkably though, there were of course few peasants present in this room, for traveling does have it's expenses and danger. What's remarkable this year is that the elves, in their act of peace, joined La Sombra Academia in order to combat the ever growing presence of the deadly shadow monsters.

Setting his cognac colored eyes at a group of fine clothed solitary youths, he began his walk toward them yet was abruptly stopped by the nearby knight.

"Hold! Show your face and state your name," seriously says the young knight as the older knight beside him shakes his head in embarrassment.

"Scott, have you lost yer mind!", the older knight then proceeds to hit the back of the young knight's helmet and forcefully pushes him to get on his knees. "Sorry, my lord, this young bugger is still in training, please forgive him."

On the side some of the students have stopped talking and looked with gossiping eyes at what the noble might do.

Lifting his eyebrow in amusement, an alluring voice says while taking his hood off, "he has the heart to protect his master, I'll let it go this time. However.." He then stands in front of the unlucky young knight, "lift your face and take a good look at me".

The young knight named Scott lifts his pale face and sees a bright brazen smiling young man signaling with a large ruby ring at his own handsome face. "I am the heir apparent of the Dukedom of Toula and am friends with the master you are protecting." Placing his hand back gently on the purple egg, he then lowers his face to the knight's head and says in a whispering lazy seductive tone, "but if you ever stop me again, be ready for the consequences."

Leaving behind the now blushing knight, Cairo then pushes a strand of his reddish brown hair behind his ears and finds a place to sit with his comrades.

"Cairo," calmly calls a youth with medium length nightly blue hair. "I hope you didn't have too much fun teasing my new knight."

Cognac colored eyes stare boringly at sky blue eyes, "do not fret Prince Octavius." then mutters, "you know I prefer to play with the maids than with your slightly interesting knights."

To this the Prince gently laughs, "ah yes,we would never forget how he made you run."

Trying not to scowl, Cairo begins to pet the outer shell of his other half, "you mean us?"

This time the Prince coughs to try to hide that memory, "anyway, I see that your dragon will be a master in using venom, congratulations."

"And I see that your dragon will be gifted with light, an admirable trait for the future of our Kingdom." Truly pleased, Cairo and the other youths sitting around the Prince began to congratulate him for they now had a higher chance to win against the shadow monsters.

Soon, their discussion was stopped by a piercing whistle.

"Good, good, now everyone who has passed our test will now be introduced to our academy's headmaster," says the first professor with the long green hair to the now standing students.

The same old man, who greeted them inside the building walks forward and with a strict nod he then speaks while making eye contact with all the attending students.

"Once again, I, Cornelius Aghony, welcome you to La Sombra Academia. I would like to remind you that while you are a student of this academy, hierarchy does not matter." His eyes cross over to the group where Cairo is sitting. "I would also like to remind everyone that to stay here, you would always need your other half. So take good care of them and they will take good care of you."

Making sure that every student held their egg close to them, he proceeds, "as knowledge states, your mana would be the feeding source for your dragon. When full, they will indefinitely hatch. When? It may take two weeks, and the longest is noted down as taking a month. Make sure that you feed them at least once a day, but don't over feed unless you wish to visit the infirmary. Now, During that time, you will attend classes to know how to take care of the needs of your dragon, as well as investigate your own gifts and this Kingdom's story against the shadow monsters."

Pausing, he takes a quick glance at a far right corner. "For today, please get to know each other, for the one beside you may end up being your life long comrade." Then lowly adds, "or the one to save you."

The Head Master then turns around with the green hair professor behind him and leaves the building.

Cairo, have already taken glimpses to the far right corner, naughtily smiles, "well gentleman, I will take head of what our Head Master just said."

At which the Prince just smiles at him knowingly. Also getting up he adds, "I may as well go with you and introduce ourselves to our new allies." Out of listening range he then silently whispers a warning to him, "behave Cairo, don't mess with them."

Instead of nodding his head obediently, the red headed youth scoffs at his friend, "when have I ever behaved?"
