TW: depersonalization

AND NOW THE MINUTES BECOME MOMENTS WHEN THE HIGH RUNS OUT THE DOWNFALL IS INEVITABLE. Jaden sighed, he couldn't help but feel like this. He hadn't moved in a few days. He hadn't felt real in the past few days. His phone had been turned back on, but he barely responded to people. He questioned if he was real if all the things he had been through were just fragments of time and were never actually true.

He watched as his phone went off every five minutes with texts from friends and family. He watched as his alarms went off, as game notifications came in. As spam phone calls rang. He watched it all.

He lays in bed looking at the ceiling. He hadn't eaten, but he did get up a few times to get some water and use the restroom. Other than that he was bound to the bed. It was like there were chains holding him to it and he couldn't find the key.

"Yo Jae, it's Cooper. Can I come in?" Cooper came by after his classes and attempted to talk to Jaden. He didn't care what they talked about as long as it was something. He knew something was up with Jaden, and he has been busy. He beats himself up for it, for not being there for Jaden when he needed him.

He got no response. He sighed and slide down the door. Jaden's room was at the end of the corridor, not many people came walking through this way. "So I'm thinking of asking Azelia out," he said. He heard nothing come from the room. "She's really pretty, smart, and nice. I could go on about her. I know you've had it rough for the past few days, and I'm sorry for being so distant the last week as well. I've been very busy with classes and my mom is having--issues. I know those are valid excuses but I'm sorry and I want you to know that." He wiped the tears that trickled down his face.

He heard faint shuffling and then the door opened causing him to fall back. He looked up and saw Jaden. He smiled weakly but then noticed Jaden's state. He looked horrid. His blonde hair was all messy, he had bags under his eyes, and not to mention; he reeked.

"You should ask her out," he said.

Cooper nodded, "I will. But right now I'm feeling like a change. A big one," he had a devilish grin on his face.

"What kind of change?" Jaden asked.

Cooper's grin only got bigger. He pulled Jaden back into his room and pushed him to take a shower. As Jaden got in Cooper cleaned up his room and left all the work that Jaden needed to do as a simple list on paper. As Jaden got out he looked at what Cooper had done for him.

"T-thank you," he smiled. Cooper came up and hugged him.

"It's no problem." Even though Cooper may not have noticed it, that hug brought Jaden back to earth. The feeling of floating and drifting he once had was gone. He felt like his feet touched the ground. He no longer felt like he was watching through a window but actually living in the current moment.

They pulled back and Jaden had tears down his face. "Why are you crying bug?" Cooper asked. Bug was the name Levi always called Jaden. He loved that name, and to hear it from Cooper was a joyous moment.

Jaden shrugged, "No reason, I'm just really happy." Cooper smiled and then his phone dinged.

"Well, my hairstylist said she can fit us in in thirty minutes now. So let's go get our hair done," he jumped up and down. Jaden smiled and grabbed his wallet, key and phone. He had thought about changing his hair for a while now. He missed his dark brown hair so he knew he was going to dye it back to that.

They walked out of the dorm building and called for an Uber. As they waited for it, Jaden responded to everyone he needed to. Of course, he called his parents back to updates them, they were worried sick when Jaden has called. He felt bad, but he apologized and promised to be back as soon as he can.

Xan and Nessa had both blown up his messages and were very relieved when he texted both of them back. As the Uber pulled up they got in and Cooper gave the direction to the hair place.

A FEW SHORT HOURS LATER AND BOTH BOYS LOOKED IN THE MIRRORS. Jaden's face lit up as he saw his once bleach blonde locks, now a dark shade of brown. He was very happy to get some pictures and send them to people and post them on Instagram. Cooper shaved his head, bleached his hair and some cool flames did on it. He was also in love with his hair. They paid the absurd amount of money, but it was worth it.

They decide since they had new hair, that they needed new clothes. Luckily a mall was across the road so they could walk over.

They crossed the road and walked into the mall. The smell of food hit Jaden and he realized how hungry he was. He and Cooper got some sushi and Jaden about ate it all in one breath. He was very hungry. They threw their trash away and walked around finding cool pointless things to buy.

About two hundred dollars each later and they both have cool outfits to match their hair. As they arrived back at their dorms, Jaden insisted on stopping by Nessa's room first.

He knocked on the door and she opened it, "Jae bug!!" She squealed and hugged him He wrapped his arms around her waist and held her tightly. He put her down and she took a step back. She greeted Cooper and then looked at their hair.

"YOUR HAIR," she yelled, "I LOVE IT!! BOTH OF YOU." She was probably going to get a noise complaint.

Both Cooper and Jaden thanked her and they had to go. Jaden knew he had a lot to catch up on. He left Cooper in his room and he walked back to his. He really needed this, just a day, with Cooper and then to see Nessa. He made a mental note to call Xan later. He put his clothes away, changed into comfier clothes, and sat down at his desk. He had his water bottle with him and in true Jaden fashion, something playing as background noise.

He looked at the list that Cooper left. It was all of his classes, he got the music stuff from Nessa, but he took the time to ask the rest of his teachers. He smiled at how sweet Cooper was and then got started on his work.

He started with answering e-mails from teachers that were concerned about Jaden not attending the lectures. And some were about the upcoming tests. He hated taking tests.

He eventually finished the rest of his work and sighed. It was now eleven at night and he was somehow tired. He grabbed a snack, and then cuddled with blankets in his bed. As he was turning on something to watch he heard a notification come from his computer. He got up and looked at it. It was from Colson, he scoffed and dismissed it, he could read it in the morning. And he has that class tomorrow anyways. He turned back to his bed and laid in it, watching the TV show till he fell asleep.
