JADEN LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW OF XAN'S CAR. It was around seven forty-five. Jaden and Xan were heading to Colson's house. Jaden noticed that Xan was gripping the wheel a little too hard, that their knuckles were white.

"Are you okay?" Jaden asked.

"I'm fine," Xan gritted. Jaden jumped slightly and turned his back to the window. After a small silence, Jaden heard Xan sigh. "I'm s-sorry for snapping at you, I'm just a little— tense," they said, softly.

Jaden looked at them, "It's fine. You don't have to be nervous about meeting Colson. He tolerates me, so I'm sure he'll love you," he smiled.

"That's not what I'm worried about," Xan thought. They're were worried to meet Colson for a different reason. It wasn't anything bad, but it was a bit of a shock.

"Okay, so turn here," Jaden pointed to the next right turn. Xan turned their blinker on and made the right turn. The neighborhood was nice, it was above average for the area that they were in.

"Holy shit!" Xan exclaimed.

Jaden nodded, "I say this every time I come here." He smiled.

Xan turns the car off and looks at Jaden, "So is he your boyfriend or... what is the situation?" They ask.

"Uhm— I guess we haven't made that clear, like I wouldn't say fuck buddies, but not like boyfriends or anything. I don't know, honestly."

Xan reached their hand over and rubbed Jaden's shoulder, "It's fine Jae, I was just wondering. If you guys haven't figured it out, that's okay." They smiled at him and squeezed his shoulder.

He smiled and placed his hand on theirs.

"We should get going, I don't want to keep this man waiting!" Xan cheerfully spoke. They lied, they knew this was going to be a shit show. Since Jaden doesn't even know anything about Xan's past, or Colson's, this could end in one of two ways.

Outcome one, according to Xan's thinking; could end nicely, Jaden won't get upset, Colson won't end up yelling, and they would all be okay with one another.

Then outcome two; it turns dark quickly, it's a yelling match. Jaden is either upset with Colson or Xan, or worse, both.

Either way, Xan knows to stand their ground. Again it's not inherently bad what happened, but it's rather upsetting. Xan and Jaden get out of the car and walk up to the front porch. Jaden rings the doorbell and they both wait in silence.

The green wooden door opened and a tall blonde man appeared. "Jaden! and Xan right?" He hugged Jaden and shoot Xan's hand.

"Yeah, nice to meet you!" Xan lied, smiling. Jaden walked inside and Xan's smile fell, Colson's did too. Xan pushed past him and followed Jaden in. Yeah, it was rude, but Xan didn't care. They saw Jaden sit down at eh island counter where there were glasses of water.

"I figured since Jaden told me one of yall were driving, I wouldn't do wine," Colson said.

"Yeah I don't drink much anyway," Xan retorted. Jaden watched the body language between the two. It was tense and vicious like there was some animosity between the two.

Jaden chuckled at what Xan said as if he didn't see them down bottles of liquor on facetime before. Xan looked over at Jaden and Colson did too.

"Something wrong Jae?" Xan asked.

Jaden shook his head, "No, I'm fine. It's funny that you said you don't drink much, but the facetime we've had can say different," he covered his mouth while he laughed.
