Our World

Another tomorrow and a rotating world,

Considering our mistakes, is all we can ever truly ask

As we gaze upon our innocent boys and girls

That we will soon be handing all our failed tasks

In attempts to perfect, and simplify, we have destroyed.

In a pursuit of happiness our worlds will die

Leaving behind a ruined planet, cold and devoid.

The rivers and oceans churn in an enraged, and protesting cry.

In the race of life, nature is never ending

We have ripped a hole that is beyond mending

And through all the lies, are the same denials

No one wants the blame and yet we’ll face the trials

We have savagely destroyed that which has harbored us

And we have indefinitely marred each other’s trust

Our own people are riddled with unease and contempt

Especially after all the half-hearted and failed attempts

The new generation is worse off than can be imagined

Selfish, self-absorbed, and only willing to see their own side

They’re thick headed and spoiled to the core, their souls are singed

It’s hard for me to believe that it’s possible to see and yet be so blind

In desperation I call out to all you who know the truth

Those of you who are willing to fight for our youth

If we do not stand up and act now, we will die

And I will sit here and watch on with the lightest of sighs

If we fail, nothing will be lost.

We are doomed already, so why not?

Our lives rest precariously in the hands of fate

Unless we surge forward and swallow our hate.

I personally plan to live on, apocalypse or not.

I refuse to lay down and give up, leaving my world to rot

Our lives are our own, and nothing more.

So patch your wounds and get ready to soar

As you wait with bated breath, everyone else is doing exactly alike

We need a leader, true and strong, someone who will win our fight

After all our horrendous acts, I believe the majority of us might deserve to be hanged.

Look at what we’ve done, do you really think human nature can ever truly be changed?
