Chapter 10

Jess’ POV

Looking down the small bathroom window, I stared at the war that was raging on. Wolves were fighting wolves, people running away from the wolves. Well, I realized they must be wolves themselves…this is so strange, I still wasn’t used to seeing people just randomly change into wolves.

Keean had told me all of this before but there had been a small part of my mind that whispered that he was crazy. I snorted at that; now I definitely thought I was going crazy, seeing the proof of normal people shifting into wolves.

Wolves poured out from between the trees, howling, snarling and lunging for the ones in front of the house until I couldn’t distinguish who’s who. They all moved so fast, jumping from side to side, over each other and back again that my eyes couldn’t focus on one wolf. They were all scattered amongst the yard and I didn’t know which wolf belonged to which side.

I felt so helpless, looking down from my safe place. I shouldn’t be up here while people are fighting and dying down there! Making up my mind, I stepped off the toilet and  crossed the bathroom.

I was determined to help them. No more sitting around! I was a werewolf too, I could help them!

Quickly unlocking the bathroom-door, I twisted the handle and ran through Keean’s bedroom and out the door until I was in the long, cream-colored hallway. I didn’t know how to get out!

Okay…trial and failure I guess… I walked to one door, opened it and peeked inside. Nope, just a bedroom. Scrambling through the maze of winding hallways and an endless amount of doors, which I occasionally opened, I came across a door with glass at the top, which read “Alpha’s office.”

Alpha…wait, that’s Keean’s office!

Dashing forwards, I ripped the door open and looked around the room. There was a desk in the center of the room with multiple chairs around it and a couch in the corner. My eyes landed on the cabinet across the room, the glass doors showing me something that could be rather useful.

Perfect!

I thought, nearly doing a happy dance before I ran across the room, barely missing the furniture as I went and reached the cabinet. What the…. there’s no knob to open it! I need to get it open! Biting my lip, I whipped around and searched Keean’s desk for anything at all that could open those doors. A small rocklike thing caught my attention before I picked it up. It was a paperweight.

YES! PERFECT!!

Turning around, I glanced at the cabinet and pursed my lips before I took a few steps backwards towards the door. Taking a deep breath, I readied myself as I put the rock in my left hand, which was my writing hand.

I threw the paperweight as hard as I could towards the glass. I winched slightly at the sound of breaking and shattering glass as the display exploded on impact, a few shards scratching the beautiful wood on the cabinet before the glass stopped falling.

Its also my throwing hand.

Once all of the glass laid still on the floor, I jumped on Keean’s desk , reaching towards the computer chair. I felt the chair tilt as I stepped on it  after I was happy on my postion and and my steadiness I  managed to pull myself towards the cabinet, cleverly avoiding the sharp glass shards underneath me. Reaching in the cabinet, I smiled reaching for what I came for.

A colt .45 and a shotgun. Feeling around in the cabinet, I found a silencer, shotgun shells and several boxes of ammo for the colt. Stuffing the silencer in the pocket of my sweats, I grabbed the two weapons and as many of those boxes and shells as I could fit in my pockets before I used the rest to fill the weapons up.
