                                         Chapter 1

The clattering sounds, the humming of people talking and random noise around me were slowly making me deaf. Great, my hearing just kept improving. I nearly groaned when the sound attacked my poor ears, slowly forcing me into madness while the telltale stabs of a headache were appearing.

With a sigh, I closed my eyes and brought my hands up, hoping it would go away. I’ve read in several books that it helped when you massaged your temples when you had a headache. To my regret, I’ve put the theory to the test, several times, since my hearing started to improve, making me sensitive for all the sounds around me.

I was SO not expecting to hear such a smooth, melodic voice as I was rubbing my temples.

"Miss?" The voice that floated through the air was subtle, gentle but it still managed to catch my attention, making me pry my eyes open. "What can I get you?" My eyes opened, gazing in the deepest blue I’d ever seen. His eyes were the only things that I could see, amazing me with their rich blue color.

For a moment, I started to compare the color of his eyes with other blue things; I realized soon enough that the sky and even the deep blue ocean were dull compared to these eyes that stared at me.

My lungs started pleading for new air, making me realize that I was holding my breath. I let it out in a soft swoosh while I kept looking at the cute boy in front of me. Oh, no…. had I answered his question? Was he still waiting? Think! Just say something!

"Uh- I, Uhm," my stuttering reply came, a blush creeping on my face. Amusement filled those brilliant eyes, making them sparkle with joy while a smile appeared on his face. The heart-stopping smile lit up his tanned, rugged strong face but they couldn’t pull my attention away from his eyes.

Thank god that I walked into this Starbucks, were Cute& tanned blue eyes worked! After the initial shock, I took a second to compose myself, taking a few breaths while I snapped my mouth shut.

"Um, yes. I would like a medium Coconut Frappuccino and a Chipotle chicken rap platter, please." A small sigh escaped my mouth while a satisfied grin slid over my face. I’d managed to say my order in a normal tone. Lucky me that I didn’t stumble over my words, making me look stupid or even worse, making the situation awkward…

Medium Frap, Coconut. Chipot-" he mumbled while his fingers nimbly moved over the screen with a expert finesse before he halted his work. “I’m sorry to disappoint you but the wrap platter is unavailable at the moment.”

I blinked before my eyes darted to a lady a few chairs away, munching away on the wrap that was ‘unavailable at the moment.’ A small frown appeared on my face when I looked back at the blue-eyed waiter, who shot me an apologetic look while he managed to look smug at the same time.

‘Well, there goes my food…’I thought while I let my eyes drift back to the menu. My eyes darted back to my blue eyed daydream, wondering if he had a suggestion on what to pick now.

The next thing I know, this god-like guy was leaning towards me, no more then an inch, and lowered his attractive voice to a whisper, making sure that nobody else but me could hear him. “If you’re really hungry; I’m getting off in 20 minutes… Maybe we could grab a bite to eat? Together?”

I blinked again, slightly dazed while I noticed that the guy suddenly seemed nervous, almost shy in his approach. After a few seconds, the slow mush that I called a brain seemed to react to what he said. All I could think was ‘Wow. Did this guy asked me out? For lunch?’ A wave of nerves, excitement and joy flooded me before I looked at my feet, nibbling on my lips while I thought things through. A bad habit, I know, but I did it whenever I was thinking or felt nervous.

Should I do it? Going out with a complete stranger? Maybe…maybe not…what if he had other motives? I mentally shook my head at that; He looked too sincere for the average kidnapper or other ruffian. Well, according to me with my belief that everyone disserves a chance. A hell, let’s just give it a go and see what comes from it.

“Well,” I started in a slight hesitant voice, “I need to drive my sister home from her practice. After that, maybe…” I trailed slightly of while I pulled a pen and a few post-its out of my pocket. Thanking myself slightly for grabbing them of the counter this morning.

I wrote down my number on the post-it before I looked up at the now smirking and slightly excited guy, searching for his nametag. “So, Jace…” I said, reading his nametag aloud before I picked the post-it up. “Give me a call or a text when you’re of and then I’ll meet you up here, ‘key?”

Reaching over the cash register, I handed him the small sliver of paper with my number on it while I smiled at him. He returned my smile before he gentle took the paper, slightly brushing his fingers against mine.

Goosebumps ran over my skin and I couldn’t contain the small shiver that raced over my body. Slightly embarrassed with my reaction, I looked up at him to find him looking back with an understanding and knowing expression on his face.

The post-it was in his hands now, so I pulled my hand back from his and slightly bit on my lip when he fumbled with the sticky side. The post-it released from his fingers and twirled down, causing me to giggle when he quickly ducked with flushed cheeks from embarrassment.

‘Wow, that guy looks so cute when he’s embarrassed.’ I mused in myself while I walked away from the counter, moving towards the doors. I was stopped when Jace stepped away from the counter and hollered, “Wait!”

I looked back with a slightly confused smile at him, making him smile as well. “What’s your name?” he breathed hopefully. I turned slightly back and tilted my head to the side.

“My name?” I asked curiously. Jace smiled and just nodded, waiting for my reply. I smiled sweetly and said “Jess. It’s Jess.”
