Here Alone

I'm going to admit that I'm scared. Just a little. Okay, fine...maybe more than a little. All the doors are locked, of course. They left just five minutes ago...or six. I never imagined actually being in this situation. Sure, I knew it might happen one day, just not now, at thirteen. What do I do while they're gone? Eat something? Call someone...? Maybe I'll just sit here. When will they be back?

They never said what time or how long they'd be out for. They told me that they're bringing me a surprise and I have no idea what it could be. I still can't believe that they trust me enough to leave me here by myself. One of them could've stayed here with me, though. I shouldn't be complaining, because it'll be nice to finally have this place to myself for a little bit. I could call someone now instead of sitting here waiting for them to come back.

I look around the room, my eyes searching for a phone. Then I remember, they're not that stupid, they wouldn't want me calling anyone so they must've hidden it somewhere. Well, this could be worse. They could've tied me up before they left, but the shorter one insisted that they needed to hurry and leave already.

Then it hits me. This could be a test. Maybe there's a camera in here somewhere or they're watching me from a window. My eyes immediately dart around the room, looking in every corner. Maybe they'd hidden it. I start to rise to my feet to continue searching for a camera, when suddenly, I hear the door open.

I gulp, nervous as to what the surprise is. The shorter one walks in, his hands empty. For a moment it's silent. Then, he sighs and asks "Hank, would you hurry up?" He shakes his head in aggravation.

The slender one who he calls "Hank" apologizes as he trudges inside, carrying a woman- who appears to be unconscious -in his arms. She has duct tape over her mouth and her hands are tied like mine were earlier. "Surprise." Hank says with a grunt, placing her next to me. Tears form in my eyes as I recognize the woman as my sister.
