"Mommy!" I hear Lucas cry out. I hurriedly get out of bed and walk quickly to his room."What is it, honey?" I ask him, worriedly, sitting down in front of him on his bed.
"There's something under my bed." He says with wide eyes.
"There's nothing under your bed, Lucas." I shake my head, smiling.
"I heard it breathing!" Lucas says.
"You probably heard your own breathing." I say, laughing reassuringly.
"No! Mommy, I saw it! It had weird skin and something strange on it's head!"
he cries."Honey, I'm sure there's nothing under there! Those types of things don't exist, okay?" I tell him. "Now, goodnight. Try to get some sleep." I say before giving him a kiss on his forehead.
As I walk out of his room, I hear him say, "Can you please check? Please!" He begs with fear in his eyes.
"Oh, okay. I'll check and them you go straight back to sleep, okay?" I tell him.
He quickly nods. I walk back over to his bed and bend down, moving the blanket out of the way. My eyes widen as I see it. A strange creature with weird skin and something weird growing out of it's head, just as he described it.
I look back up at Lucas, he's clutching the comforter. "I told you!" He says. I'm too stunned to speak as I look back at the thing under the bed, and then back at my son.
"Wh- what is that?!" I say in disbelief.
"I don't know! It has weird pink skin! Wait...mommy...is it a-" He cuts himself off, his eyes widening.
"No! No it can't be...it can't be a human. They're not real."
