❝HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ... It's depressing in here. Why is it depressing in here, Care-bear?❞ Melinoe spoke softly, walking back into her room to see the vampire staring at the wall, a frown etched on her features, and clutching onto the blanket. The brunette places a red velvet cupcake on the nightstand and moved back into the bed beside the blonde. "C'mon darlin', It's your birthday. You love your birthday, hell, you love my birthday more than I like my birthday."
Care sighs, not removing her eyes from the wall but leans her head against the brunette's shoulder.
"I'm dead." The blonde replies bluntly, "I didn't even like 17. The only point to being 17 was to get to 18. It's a filler year; I'm stuck in a filler year."
"You're looking at the negative side of things, Care," the siphon strokes the blonde's hair softly, trying to provide some sort of comfort, "Think of it this way, you're gorgeous. And you'll stay fucking gorgeous for the rest of eternity. Pretty much every girl's dream."
"Still stuck in a filler year." Caroline points out, shaking her head, not believing the words that came out of the brunette's mouth. "And still dead."
Mel sighs, silence taking over the two for a moment before an idea pops into the brunette's head. "Okay...dead, I can work with that." She mutters to herself.
"What?"
The siphoner waves off the blonde's question and hands her the red velvet cupcake urging her to try it. "Coda's making breakfast. I made you my special cupcakes. You eat while I change."
Caroline nods, wearily eyeing the cupcake in her hand. The blonde swallowed harshly before taking a bite, pursing her lips to kiss her teeth and tried to not gag immediately. The blonde send the brunette a fake smile, waiting for Mel to head into the bathroom before coughing up the remnants of the cake. Caroline chugged a bottle of water down her throat, trying to rid herself of the horrid taste before speeding downstairs and throwing up in the kitchen sink.
"Mornin' Sunshine," Coda's bellowed, a grin tugging at his lips as he watched the blonde run the tap of water into her mouth. Caroline turned to glare at the boy but the smell of apple and cinnamon filled her nostrils causing her mouth to water and her glare to waver.
"You have no idea how glad I am you're cooking." Caroline piped up causing Coda to turn around from the oven. He held freshly baked muffins and cookies in his gloved hands and eyed the cupcake in Caroline's hand before laughing loudly.
"I can't believe you actually ate that." Coda leans forward handing the blonde a muffin which she quickly dove into but accidentally burnt her tongue. "Surprised you haven't died."
