❝Surprise!❞ Mel exclaimed, holding her hands out, expecting a hug from her younger brother, who, instead, stood dumbfounded on the other side of the door. Kol Mikaelson stood behind him, shirtless, amusement swirling in his brown eyes at the siblings before him.

Mel lowered her arms when Coda hadn't moved and cleared her throat, awkwardly. Caroline pursed her lips behind the elder twin, eyes darting between the two. The blonde and brunette had driven from Mystic Falls for a small getaway and decided on visiting Coda. Not that the younger Parker had informed either of his location which resulted in Melinoe using her blood to track him down.

"This isn't awkward at all." Kol murmurs, rolling his eyes before leaving, heading towards his bedroom. Mel sends him a smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes.

"So," Caroline spoke loudly, shoving past Coda, throwing him a small glare, and into the Original and Siphon's luxurious, compelled apartment. "Got any food?"

"You're here to babysit little Gilbert?" Mel scoffs as she sat on the couch in their apartment, Coda on the other side of her. Mel ignored the empty and half-filled bottles of alcohol lying around and the various feminine and male undergarments scattered around, not to mention the horrific stench making her nose crinkle. "And what? Throw him a football? Might as well get a dog, they do pretty much the same thing and talk less. I mean, seriously? This is your best excuse?"

Coda shrugged his shoulders, unaffected by his sister's rising anger. "I wanted a change of scenery."

"And Denver is obviously appealing option," She deadpans, trying not to twitch from her brother's demeanor, while Caroline busies herself in the kitchen, pretending not to listen in. Kol wasn't even trying, though he had opted to wear a shirt.

Coda picked up a random vodka bottle, bringing it to his lips. "We always said we'd leave Mystic Falls."

"Yeah, leave, not runaway." Mel held a tight smile on her lips despite her fingers digging into her palms. "And last time I checked, there was no we."

"I did not run away." Coda defended making his sister narrow her eyes.

"Bullshit."

Coda huffed, rolling his eyes. "Why are you here?"

Mel crossed her arms over her chest, scrunching up her nose as she spoke sweetly. "Oh, so I'm now forbidden from visiting my abscond twin. I hope you'll accept my sincerest apology."

"I did not run away," Coda defended, meeting her narrowed eyes. "I left you a text."

"You mean the 'I'm going on an indefinite trip. Please hesitate to reach out.' text." Mel drawled out, a bitter tone lacing her voice. "Yeah, that cleared everything up."

Coda nodded, as if the sarcasm hadn't registered for him, though it obviously had, but he elected to ignore it. "Exactly."

Mel threw her hands up, glaring at her brother, before she shook her head. "Fine. You didn't run away and I-... and I didn't burn your entire Star Wars collectibles."

That got Coda's attention. "You did what?"

"I said," Mel drawled out slowly, "'I totally did not burn your―"
