Swamp

Seventy three years since my escape from Rafflesia, I can say I've finally found peace in the human world, even though there was always a part of me that did miss my home. Back in the my world, soaring through the sky along with other dragons alike and blow fire as claim over territory was the fun I enjoyed. If a human witnessed such a thing, it would risk the exposure of the supernatural world, which was highly forbidden.

Leaving my world not only was a wise decision, but my father advised me to leave minutes before his death. The Drow's had taken over and murdered most of the dragon population. Now with only Six of us left, they tried to kill my friends and I, but failed miserably.

Every supernatural creature had their own unique law to follow depending on their magic or capability. Although, we've been told not to reveal our existence to the mortals, the werewolves, elves, warlocks, and witches could do so, but only to their mated partner.

For the first time here in the human world, I must say my companions and I had adjusted quite well. We found a cave in the middle of a swamp away from civilization. Luckily for us, the giant rock formed cave provided a small stream of freash water from a rock and three tunnels leading to different exists for each of us to enjoy our own privacy. Partial cascaded from the small opening in the roof during the day when the sun shined. Sunlight or not, it really did not matter, dragons can see perfectly in the dark.

My head snapped after hearing the sound of talking from beyond the cave. I stand from my laying position, sniffing the air as I walk out of my dwelling. About forty feet away from me, a young male and female are picking leaves from the Erone Tree.

A smirk appeared on my face as I decide to creep up on the two. The thought of having a little fun by bringing fear into their little hearts warmed my soul. The two heard my loud stomps and screamed at the sight of me, running in the opposite direction. Not too long after, Whiro, and Beast comes along flying above the two.

"Oh, look Beast. Zue is also chasing them," Whiro commented. My wings stretched out and I ran, lifting myself into the air following my friends, and the mortals. "Glad for you to join us,"Whiro joked.

"You two ruined my moment there."

"What moment?" They bother said in union.

"I was planning on scaring them away."

"When did you become so soft?" Whiro grunted.

"We are not eating them."

"Why not? We're not home anymore," Beast repied. When we came to a landing, I stepped in front of them both as they backed away a bit. I was a bit taller and longer than the twins, and my fire power is five hundred degree's hotter than their's. The older a dragon becomes, the greater the intensity of it's power.

"Whiro, Beast, we aren't going to eat them. Home or not, we will not eat humans. We still must obey our laws. Besides, there's way too many other delicious foods around to taste."

"I told you moving here has made him really soft. He's not even the same Zue anymore," Whiro glanced at Beast.

"I am not soft!" I growled, receiving a glare from the twins and a scream behind a tree not too far from us.

"Calm down, Zue. All we're saying is that in our old world, you never thought twice before eating a animal."

"That's the past. We must respect the humans, not eat them," My body shifted into the direction of the mortals. They ran inside of a small ditch, peeking out. "Come. I will fly you two back home and we can all forget anything ever happened. Deal?"

The human boy stood from inside the trench. "What are you?"

"What do you think I am?"

"A beast," The female stood next to her companion.

"My friend already has a twin. Now I am offended, because I am much stronger and larger than Beast and his brother."

"What? No. I mean you look like a giant dangerous creature that could kill us any moment."

"I am a giant dangerous creature that could kill the both of you if I wanted," I replied with a snigger. "I am only offering to take you both back to your world before the night arises," I looked up towards the sunset and back at them. Waiting wasn't something I normally liked to do, but if these two wouldn't hurry home now, then I'd have to force them back.

"Why should we trust you?" The female crossed his arms.

"I'm offering to ride you home. Now if you don't come with me willingly, I will force you."

"Maybe we should listen to him. I don't think I know where we are at this point," The male gazed at his surroundings.

"You want to trust that beast?"

"Yeah, if you want to go home, Callianna. I don't want to be out here when it's dark and we can't see. We don't even have flash lights."

"Fine," She hoped out of the ditch and her male copied her. "I don't think the both of us can..." I grabbed the hem of their shirts, spread my wings, and lifted myself into the air. I stayed at a limit of 55mph in the air. Whiro and Beast remained in the same spot speaking to each other. A long conversation will happened once I return.

"No one's going to believe we've met a giant beast, Cato."

"That's why we aren't going to tell anyone."

"Perfect idea. Dragons shall remain a mystery to all of you mortals. I would suggest never returning for your own safety. My friends had the intentions of eating you earlier."

"Dragons?"

"You're a dragon! I mean you do look like one."

"Callianna, dragons doesn't exist."

"Neither does giant beasts apparently."

Lights spread across the small town of Ricker as the sun went down and the moonlight shined from the sky. I heard the sound of the wolves shortly after. Another reason for getting these two back home safely. Some wolves are out of control during their shift and that's completely dangerous for anything or anyone in their way.

We ended up right to the dock with a wooden boat wrapped around a pole by a rope. The only way into the swamp and the only way out of the swamp is through the mucky waters. The two humans jumped down as I flew low enough for them to reach the ground before landing.

I watched the boy walk away onto the dock, but the female stayed behind and looked at me with sadness. "This is where I take my leave," I told her as a way of dismissal.

"Wait. You said you are a dragon. How many are you that lives in this swamp? And, how long have you creatures lived on Earth?"

Unlike the other humans I've encountered, not one of them was as bold as she to ask such questions. That intrigued me. "Only a few and not long at all," I was in the air before the female had a chance to reply.
