A/N: First off, let me apologize for the super late update - some medical issues I've had have only made my life even more hectic than ever before. I'm taking so much medicine, I have two weeks of school left and work is driving me up a wall. I'm trying to update I swear, but if it's late or every week and a half, please bare with me. I'm writing and editing as much as I can so please be patient!

Back to our story: while I know I may not be getting down all the character traits for our favorite characters down pat, I do hope that you will see slightly where this story is going... but don't worry you know the twist is coming and I promise you all will hate me more than ever before! As always, enjoy :)

The smashing sound coming outside of Tony’s door only continued to grow louder the longer he ignored it. Why was someone knocking on his door so loud?! If it was an emergency, JARVIS would have woken him up with a simple alarm, not this infernal banging on his door. Throwing his pillow to the other side of the bed he mumbled as loudly as he could.

“Pepperrrr!!” The red head rolled over, looking in the direction the billionaire had called from “Handle that.” He said, head still buried in the pillow, and pointed a finger at the door that was shaking.

Tony heard his girlfriend groan and mutter something under her breath about how he didn’t like to answer doors or be handed things. Everyday was a miracle that she stayed with him, he knew that. Maybe one day, he would decide to make that permenant, but for now he was happy with where they were and so was she. The moment the door opened, he heard the soldier’s deep voice demanding to know where Tony was. Growing irritated, he began to shout over Pepper’s shoulder.

“Stark! Come out here and stop sending Pepper to do your work for you.”

Groaning, Tony sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes. Glaring towards the door, he staggered out of bed and towards where the Captain is standing. Pepper rushed back to the warm bed wrapped up in her robe and covered herself with the blankets piled upon the bed.

“What do you want Capsicle?”

“This isn’t a game Tony because I know you know.”

Tony sighed, shutting his bedroom door so Pepper could try to go back to sleep. Rubbing his eyes he began to wander towards the kitchen, the blonde soldier on his heels like a golden retriever puppy. He began to rummage through the cabinets that held his vast collection of scotch until he found the right one. Taking a sip, he handed it towards a very annoyed Steve Rogers who batted it away with the back of his hand. Just because Tony drank to drive his nightmares away didn’t mean that Steve had too; his nightmares were ones that he faced on a day-to-day basis – not just glimmers of things that could have happened.

“Alright, alright I’ll bite; know what Grandpa?”  Tony threw his hands up in submission and gestured for the soldier to explain himself.

“The poison… you knew exactly what to give Loki to reverse the effects of it.”

Tony narrowed his gaze and set down his scotch glass. It was no secret that underneath that façade of a playboy who just did the hero works on the side; there was a man who truly cared about the people around him. It was what irritated Steve so much and why the two butted heads on a daily basis.

“Poison?” Tony echoed.

“Yes, the poison that caused Loki to turn blue and is the reason he’s in a comatose state down the hall.” Steve quipped.
