Monday finally rolled around after a painstakingly long weekend.

My alarm squawked at me telling me it was half 5 in the morning. The only downfall of this job was that it started at seven and I had grown used to sleeping all day in my depressive slump.

Running through my new routine, I barely found the energy to get out of bed. The last time I had left my house was for the interview.

I had came home early the next morning, remembering the sheets I was laying under that were most definitely not mine.

I stood under the hot water of the shower, feeling it run along my body as I let my eyes shut. Imagining hands running down my back and sides.

Flashes of the last night were tangled with past memories, of a certain girl I had left at the altar.

As I walked into the new building I let out a sigh. The incredible size and openness of the building soothed me.

The spring air engulfed me, soothing me into a feeling that everything was going to be just fine.

I walked up to the blonde reception lady as she peered at me from over her glasses again.

"Hi, who are you?" The reception lady forced a smile at me as she spoke in strained English. I should probably try and learn French.

"Eden McLaughlin. I'm the new personal assistant for the boss." I smiled and she aggressively typed something before glancing to me, then back to the computer and then back to me.

"You will be working on floor five with a group of his three other assistants. He will buzz you whenever he needs you." I nodded and made my way to the elevator.

Mr Blanchet was a great man who had a different assistant for every subject of work he needed. I was his all around P.A, scheduling calls, getting him drinks, being there for him, that kind of thing.

As I stalked towards the elevator, the reality of my situation finally hit me as I felt deja vu slap me across the face.

"Hey." A brunette approached me once I stepped out of the elevator. "My names Sierra." She extended a hand, I smiled and took it. The more I looked the more I noticed natural red highlights in her hair.

My heart skipped as she smiled back at me. Raking her other hand through her short, brown hair.

"Eden."

"Pretty rare name. I like it." We stood holding hands for a second too long before we were both pulled out of our daze. "This here is Sofie. She helps with the bosses fashion. I help with finances and you're his personal assistant. We will be a great team." She smiled again making my face heat up.

"Who's that guy?" I pointed to a guy sprawled over the couch.

"That's just Zack. He shows up every day and annoys us." Sofie explained and frantically grabbed fabrics to pin on a mannequin to figure out which textures went well together.

"Sup!" He threw me a peace sign. "I'm homeless so."

"Excuse me?" I spluttered.

"I'm looking to bunk with someone but these brats refused. They don't love me!" He wailed dramatically.

I bite my lip and contemplate for a minute, "You can stay with me. I've got an extra room in my apartment." I said and he sat upright, visible shock on his face. I don't even know why I offered either.

"Seriously?!" He came over and squeezed me into a hug. "What's your name by the way? I don't listen to Sierra." He smiled cheekily at the girl who rolled her eyes.

"I'm Eden," He smiles and I look around, noticing there was only four of us when there should be five, "The lady at reception said there would be one other person?"

Sofie cleared her throat, "that's Holland. He never shows up, but he'll be here soon. He's Mr Blanchett's own personal bodyguard. So he's normally with security watching cameras and whatever they do."

I sat at my desk and set up my things how I had them at Julia's. I had a photo of Me and Julia, and photos of me, Liv and Audrey.

"Who're they?" Sierra sat on my desk and picked up the photos on it. She ran a finger over me in a picture with me and Julia.

"That's me and my girlfriend- well ex girlfriend." I sighed out. "When she finally merged the companies, she made us get a photo so I could put her on my desk."

"Recent breakup?"

"A matter of months." I leaned back in my chair. We were silent, not needing to fill the space with rambles unless we really wanted to. "I don't know why I still have the picture."

She moved to a photo with Audrey and Liv.

"My best friend and her daughter. They moved here with me." The next photo she smiled softly, showing her front teeth. They were perfect. "Diego, he's like a second dad." And then the next. "My actual parents. My dad's here for a cure to his illness."

"Oh I'm sorry. I hope it goes well." She said and slid her hand into mine, comfortingly squeezing my hand. My eyebrows raised as I stared at our hands. "Sorry." She cleared her throat and her hand slipped out of mine.

"Oh no don't be. I'm just touch starved." I joked with furrowed eyebrows, nervously laughing hoping to break the tension with a stupid joke that only made me more embarrassed. "Why don't you guys only speak French?" Change the subject Eden, change the subject.

"It's an English dominated world. We have our accents to tell us apart from you Americans." Zack yelled. I loved how dramatic he was.

"We've sworn from dating Americans. They ruin our bloodline." Sofia joked as she scribbled notes into her notepad.

I nodded and my gaze made its way back to Sierra. Slightly hooded eyes, beautiful voice. Beautiful everything actually. Shame that she's sworn off Americans. Her features were so delicate as we scanned each other's faces. Her eyes had flecks of green.

"Wait your ex was that rich Manuel girl right- who's engaged to her high school sweetheart?" Sierra raised an eyebrow as she leaned forward, almost taunting me to check her out.

"Yes. It was messy. It's arranged. We were dating when it was announced we tried to work through it but... things happened." I scrunched my face up recalling everything. "I left everyone I loved to come here and I'm only here in case my dads illness gets worse."

"Your life must have been drama free!" Zack mocked sarcastically and I felt a smile pull at my lips.

I think my time here won't be so bad after all.
