Fangs Epilogue

(Juliet's POV)

You wake up to the blurry sights of the bright lights of the room. You groan and get up. You can see someone besides your bed.

"Juliet..." That familiar voice. Seems to be astonished. "You're awake!" She hugs you tightly. Sticking her face to yours. You know this familiar voice, familiar embrace, it's Aires. Your confusion turns into being flustered but happy.

She let go of you.

"Oh right." You hear her pick up something from a table and slide it on your face. It's your glasses. You can see again, and you can see her.

"Aires!" You hug her too. Your tail wags happily.

"Hehe good morning to you too princess." She says, petting your head.

"Wait morning?" You let her go. "How long was I out? What happened?" You wonder.

"12 hours. We put you in here for you to recover." You notice you're in the Headquarters' infirmary. "The Comets healed you when they came, and my back too."

"I knew we should've checked it sooner." You bicker.

"Yeah yeah, it's better now." She scratches the back of her head. "But...can you show me your teeth first?"

That's an odd request, but you showed her anyway. You widely open your mouth. She examines it and sits back to her chair.

"It's still there." She said, disappointed.

She's talking about your teeth. Your fangs. Right. You nearly forgot about them.

"We tried to heal it with the Comets too but it didn't really change anything. That means it's not an effect or some sort." She explains.

"So...it really is a puberty thing." You assume but you know it doesn't make sense, especially at your age now. Maybe it's a late bloomer thing.

"Juliet..."

"Huh?" She breaks your pondering.

"Do you remember everything that happened last night?" She asks, looking concerned.

You think about it and nod. Everything was crystal clear now that you think of it.

You woke up to see her on the other side of the field, going inside the forest. You didn't want to wake up your friends so you followed her. You got lost for a bit but managed to track her with her scent. When you made it to the arena you just watched them from the inside but while you did the instincts came back. You stayed hidden because you were going through your own battle of control. Just being near him and hearing his voice, it wakes up the anger and violence inside of you. But when you hear Aires struggling you make it loose and take over you.

"Just asking but his illusions, what were you seeing?" Aires asks.

Illusions?

That bright flash... It blinded you but once your vision cleared you saw Aires below you, laying on the pool of blood in the ground, full of scratches and blood all over her, looking at you lifeless. You were biting her arm. You let go of it and jumped back from that. As you were crawling back she stood up, walking slowly as she said "this was your fault", "you've done this to her." It was horrifying. But when a splash of fire interrupted her you got a glimpse of the real Aires in the distance. You ran to her but that bloody Aires stopped you and pinned you to the ground. Making you more guilty with every word she says.

You're keeping your head down. You tremble as tears drop to your blanket.

"Wh--no Juliet it's okay" Aires immediately hugs you. "You don't need to remember if it hurts Jyuls."

"Aires..." Your voice becomes frail. "It hurts... seeing you hurt..."

"Because of me." Your voice shakes. Tears dripped more and more.

"Juliet..." She moves back, a little in front of you and holds your cheeks, raising to look at her. "That's what your fear was?"

Your eyes widen as more tears flow down your cheeks.

She gives you a soft smile. "Me too." You're a little confused.

"Seeing you struggle with control and seeing you so lost, I couldn't stand it. All the time I'm scared you might get hurt... I'm always scared for you."

"But that's why I'm doing my best!" She beams up. "To protect you!" You're surprised.

"Because you're important to me." Her voice softens. She wipes your cheek.

You hold her hand "You're important to me too." You mirror. "That's why I'm afraid I'll hurt you."

"Then that's why you should do your best too. To control that new side of yours. To not make it happen."

"Those illusions are a lie, we don't need to listen to them, or him." She added.

"So cheer up Jyuls, I don't like seeing you cry." That made you smile. She wipes off the rest of your tears and gives you a kiss on the cheek. You blush a little, and give her a hug. She exchanges your embrace. Gripping your back but not too tight.

"Hey..."

You look up.

"It's still early, wanna go grab something to eat?" She asks brightly.

You nod.

All of your worries blew away because of her comfort. That's why you're afraid to lose her, afraid to lose your warm light and get lost in the cold. Her value to you is just the same as your value to her. You like how both of you care for each other. Even if she's a magnet of chaos, It makes you feel lucky to have her.
