Tobias POV:

I slowly open my eyes and I see my apartment.
The events of the night come back to me, and I go over to see Tris.
She is quite literally black and blue and parts of her face are swollen. I dont wake her, she doesn't have anything important going on today, so I leave her in bed and go to find our friends. I get changed first and brush my teeth. I have an impressive bruise on my cheekbone.
I walk out the apartment ready to face whatever comes at me, whether that be a flamboyant Zeke or the dauntless leaders coming to kill me.
I walk into the cafeteria and find Zeke, Shauna, Marlene, Uriah and Christina, all talking and laughing.
"No, I think its a great idea," Uriah is agreeing to something and everyone else seems to aswell.
I stand with them and everyone looks at me. I dont know what to say. I take a deep breath.
"Hey Four, so what do you say to a game of candor or dauntless every Wednesday night at eleven?"Uriah comes over to me and leans on my sholder.
"Odly specific," I say and brush him off.
"Hush, but seriously. You in?" He asks and I nod.
"Why not," I'm tired and I cant argue with any of these people right now.
"Woah dude, where'd you get that?" Uriah says touching my bruise. I bat his hand away. Here's where I tell them im a murder... or I dont. Im not a candor I can conveniently skip that part out.
"There was an attack, Tris um- she should really tell you but," I stop myself and take a breath. "Eric, Peter and this woman attacked her and I heard and sorted it out,"
Everyone looks panicked because Tris isn't with me.
"Shes fine, just sleeping," I say before anyone can ask.
"Where were you yesterday?" Christina asks and I dont know how to respond.
"Just went out," I say winking at Shauna.
Christina also works at the fence (and trains initiates with me) but I didn't bother asking her to help out.
Zeke starts to 'oo' and I stand on his foot to make him shut up.
"Anyway, I should get back to her," I say excuseing myself.

The apartment is cold and only lit by sunlight. Tris is still sound asleep, her hair looks golden in this light. I don't know how much longer she will be asleep so I wake her up.
"Hey," I say running my hands through her hair.
Tris slowly opens her eyes and stretches, immediately regretting it.
"Morning," she says grimacing in pain.
"Here," I hand her a vile of pain killers I swiped from the infirmary.
"What is it?" Tris asks
"Pain killers," she smiles great fully. In two sips she swallows the liquid and immediately looks brighter.
"Do you think i could-," I know what shes going to ask so I offer my assistance. She leans against me as she stands. She laughs while looking in my eyes. I kiss her and she seems taken back. She takes deep breaths. I hold her shoulders so she doesn't loose balance. We kiss for a few minutes before Christina comes knocking at the door.
"Hey, is this Four's apartment?!" She shouts from behind the door.
I open the door and she stumbles in. Christina spots Tris and runs up to her.
"Oh my god, are you okay?" Chris asks.
"Yeah im fine," Tris replys and looks at me.
"Yeah about this," Christina says and points at Tris and then to me.
"What about it?" I say coldly
"Nothing bad, its just Tris has hardly told me anything and if your relationship is really as boring as kissing once or twice and saving eachother, well its not that good." Christina goes on a rant about how she isn't notified every time we kiss or see eachother.
"Tris doesn't have to tell you everything she does," I state and Christina looks offended.
"Its what best friends do!" She says to me but i can tell it affects Tris.
I just laugh and shake my head.
"WHAT?!" Christina is not someone you want to argue with.
"Go," I say in my instructor voice.
Tris turns to me and I give her an apologetic look.
"Excuse me?" Christina says
"Did I stutter? Go." And with that Christina has left.
I turn to Tris.
"Im sorry," I start to apologise but before i can say anything more she comes up and hugs me.
"Its okay," I say to Tris, I can tell she wants to cry.
"I know," she says into my chest.
"Can I kiss you?" I ask her.
"Of course." And I kiss her.
A single tear falls down her face and I wipe it away with my thumb.
"We're okay, not much else is but we are," I say and she kisses me.
"You always know what to say," she says and I kiss her.
