Elena POV 2/7 1:30pm-4:20pm

Everyone gathers in the parlor of the Boarding House as we prepare to get the sword.

“Where is Stefan?! This is his house anyways, and he’s a major part of the plan!” Caroline exclaims and she paces across the rug in frustration. Bonnie sits on the couch reading over a book Shane gave to her while I’m sitting on the bar while drinking a bottle of Vodka. “Great,” Caroline huffs, “Bonnie’s not paying attention and Elena’s an alcoholic.” I ignore her and continue to drink while checking my phone.

Stefan finally saunters into the room and apologizes, “Sorry I’m late. Are you guys ready?” Bonnie looks up from her book and I hop down from the bar-top as he talks, but Caroline is not as pleased.

“Are we ready? We’ve been ready for half an hour like we were supposed to be!” Stefan puts his hands up in surrender as Caroline patronizes him. Walking by, I pat her on the head and set my bottle down on the table.

“Come on, Care,” I mutter, “If you’re so concerned about time then stop talking and let’s go.” She doesn’t take my condescension very well, grumbling in protest, but she throws her arm up and follows me out, the rest of them following behind.

Bonnie and I get in her Prius while Stefan and Caroline both take their own cars since they’re not going to be suspicious. Caroline jumps out of her car and runs over to Stefan.

“Hey, should I just drive to the grill?” Stefan whispers something that I don’t care to hear and Caroline speeds off to her car and pulls away. After a minute or two, I turn to Bonnie.

“Alright, so why am I here and what are we doing?” I expect her to say something like be the lookout or communicate between the two. But our part of the plan takes me by surprise.

“We’re going to the Mikaelson mansion.” My eyes widen as she turns to me with a smirk on her face.

“I’m sorry, I’d rather not be staked today. What are we doing there?” I retort in an urgent tone. Bonnie puts the car and drives out the driveway as she continues.

“We need the sword. Klaus won’t just give it to us, so we’re going to have to steal it. None of the Originals are there, Rebekah isn’t daggered anymore, but there is no way she’ll be with Klaus. Stefan and Caroline have the rest of the plan. We just need to do our part.” She briefly glances over to me to gauge my reaction, but I continue to look apathetically at the road ahead. But curiosity gets the best of me and I have to ask.

“What is their part of the plan?” Bonnie looks and me and chuckles, but continues driving without a word. Guess I’m not to be trusted anymore.

After over an hour and a half of nothing, I finally exclaim, “Okay, just WHAT are we waiting for?” They say turning off your humanity gets rid of feeling emotion, but I still feel impatience.

“We need to wait for Caroline to give the sign. She’s at Steven’s Quarry now, she’s supposed to -” Just as she tries to tell me her part of the plan, her phone chimes on the seat. Bonnie picks it up and scrolls to the new message, reading it closely for what seemed like forever.

“Did she send you a novel or can you just not read?” I spit out bitterly. Bonnie takes a deep breath and starts the car again, driving down the road to, I assume, the Mikaelson’s. “Alright then, just drive in silence. I don’t need to know what I’m doing or anything.” A few minutes later, we pull up the drive and run to the front of the house when Bonnie finally begins to talk.

“Alright, we don’t have long. We need to hurry up and get the sword and get out.” We run up to the door and open it, but I can’t get in. Bonnie turns and looks at me questioningly, “Come on, what are you waiting for??”

“I can’t get in. They must have a human living here - no doubt compelled.” I look around the door frame as if I could find a loophole until a large man saunters down the hallway toward the open door. Bonnie backs out of the house and stands by me.

“Who are you?” His voice booms as he looks down at us, expecting an answer.

“Well, I was wondering if I could come in.” I reply with a smile.

“No. I can’t invite anyone in,” He stands in silence for a moment before continuing, “I don’t know why. I just can’t.” He’s obviously been compelled. Bonnie could just run in and get the sword, but she’s pretty against hurting humans, especially compelled one’s that don’t have a choice. Fortunately, I don’t have a problem with it at the moment.

“Well did he say you couldn’t come out? I just need to call someone. You do have a cell phone, don’t you?” He nods and inches out onto the porch, rifling through his pocket. I flash around behind him and snap his neck. His body goes limp and falls to the floor. I smile and look at Bonnie, “There. Problem fixed.” Bonnie’s mouth hangs open as she blinks furiously.

“Elena! What is wrong with you?!” She is obviously not happy with my choice of getting in.

“Look, you said we needed to get in and that we didn’t have much time.” I retort, rolling the dead body into the bushes on the side of the porch.

“I could’ve done a spell to trap him for a minute and then I could’ve gone-“ I push past her into the house and interrupt.

“Bonnie! It would’ve taken too long! We need to get this sword and do whatever it takes. Please!” My voice starts in anger but soon turns to pleading. She looks at my face, detecting my humanity that is trying to break through. I turn quickly and rush into the house, searching every room for the sword.

“Elena! I found it!” Bonnie yells from one of the sitting rooms. I rush over to her side and see her pull the sword out from under a large couch. I pick it up, it is pretty heavy, and we run out the door and jump into her car.

“Alright. Now where do we go?” I turn to her, waiting for a destination. This may actually work, but we have to do it soon.

“To Steven’s Quarry.” She turns the keys and the engine sputters to a start.
