1. Keep it

It was another morning of the summer. The sunlight coming through the window. You can hear the birds chirping. Summer was the season you liked the most. You liked everything about it. 

You were sipping on the coffee mug sitting at the kitchen counter, all dressed up to head outside. What a pleasant way to start a new day in this nice weather right?

However, nothing seemed pleasant to you in any way. You were currently waiting for your best friend also roommate Lisa to finish getting ready so that you both could head out for your first appointment with your gynecologist.

You felt anxiety rushing over to you whenever you thought about it. You had to make a decision fast. You hated the idea of giving up on this baby. But again you didn't know if you were ready to take such a huge responsibility. Raising a child is a huge responsibility and being a single mother was not easy. Giving birth to this child means you were going to risk your career too. 

Were you ready to risk it all?

You look up and see Lisa coming down. She looks at you and understanding the state you are in she pulls you in for a hug. 

"Don't worry Samara we'll get through this." Your friend speaks, a mere attempt to make you feel calm and it did make you feel better. Giving you a reassuring smile she pulls you into a warm hug. 

This is what you liked about Lisa the most. She always knew what to say. She would always manage to calm you down no matter what the situation was and you were grateful for that. You knew for a fact that she'll always be there no matter what. She did not need to tell you that. You two have been like that since your high school days. 

After your mom, she was the only family you had. You were always there for each other. You did not need to say words aloud for the other to understand. Just one look and you could tell what the other was up to.

"Everything will be fine, you're gonna be fine, okay?" She asks lifting her head. You give her a small nod, not being able to bring yourself to give her a proper response, and follow her out of your shared apartment.

I'll be fine. Right?

By the time you and Lisa reached the doctor's clinic, you could feel your heart pounding inside your chest like a drum. You kept repeating the words inside your head that Lisa said to you earlier. 

You will be fine. Everything will be fine.

After waiting for a few minutes your name was called. You entered the spacious cabin and greeted your gynecologist she returned with a warm smile. You both sat across from her. You knew the time has came. You have to accept the truth and make a decision accordingly. 

You needed to think about the baby and yourself. You had your whole life ahead and it was just the beginning of your career. You had a dream to pursue. You couldn't just sacrifice all that. But you couldn't bring yourself to give up on the baby either. 

Mrs. Anderson was a nice lady. She knew what your situation was and told you not to think too much about it. She escorted you to the other side of the cabin to proceed with your ultrasonogram. At that moment all you could think of was the baby that was peacefully sleeping inside your womb.

When Mrs. Anderson showed you the image of the baby which was more like a little dot inside a bean your lips tugged into a smile. She explained to you everything about the baby and the whole process of pregnancy, you listened to her carefully. 

You were drawn towards everything she told you about the child.  You couldn't help but feel happy when she told you that the baby was totally fine and there were no complications. You felt all giddy all of a sudden. You felt yourself grinning ear to ear. 

The thought of another soul growing inside you made you feel a pool of emotions that you couldn't comprehend. You knew you were lucky that you were going to experience all that. 

You looked over to Lisa, she was smiling too. You knew she was happy and she will be there for you whatever your decision was. 

So by the time, Mrs. Anderson was done explaining almost all bits of pregnancy, you knew what you wanted. So you made your decision,

You were going to keep it.
