12. An evening full of surprises

After many requests and convincing, you managed to bring Lisa to Jungkook's birthday party. Although you realized later that if only you have mentioned Jimin earlier it could have been a lot easier. 

"Gosh by the looks of his house he seems extremely rich, why does he even need a job?" Your friend speaks as you both enter Jungkook's apartment.

"Of course, he needs a job to make a living." 

You reply with obviousness in your voice although you had no idea about Jungkook's family being rich. Scratch that you don't have any idea about any of their backgrounds.

"Now shut up and help me find Jungkook."

Your eyes roam around the living room of the vast apartment, trying to look for the said person amidst the crowd. 

Your eyes recognize a lot of known faces as most of them are from your work. That makes you a bit fidgety as you're still not familiar with most of them. It's been a little more than a week since you joined their company. You haven't spoken to anyone other than Mr. Kim's secretary; Youngjae, your department head; Seokjin, Jung Aera; who you're sure is the kind of person who would talk to a wall if she can't find anyone to talk to. Lastly, Jimin and Jungkook.

You can't deny the fact that you were relieved to see Jimin and Jungkook in your workplace. But who you're kidding, life must have been mocking you when you thought it would be a pleasure to have them around. But what you didn't know was these two guys were the closest friends of the person you were trying to avoid the most. 

This had to be trouble.

You turn around when you feel a tap on your shoulder only to find Jimin standing there with the most charming smile you've ever seen, plastered on his face.

"Look who we have here." He speaks looking genuinely delighted.

Although he is speaking to you, you're sure the words were directed to your friend who is standing next to you with the most uninterested expression she can manage to sustain.

Only if they knew how obvious they are.

Sigh.

"You look gorgeous Samara. It's good to have you here," he says pulling you into his embrace. 

"You don't look bad yourself," you say as you pull apart from him. 

"I didn't know you were bringing your friend though. Pleased to meet you again." 

He speaks finally turning toward your friend, a glint of mischief in his eyes. From the corner of your eyes, you can see your friend twisting her mouth to hold back a smile, trying not to appear overjoyed at the encounter.

You've seen Lisa and Jimin dancing and interacting the other day, and you can't deny they would make a really good pair. You could tell by just looking at them right now that they were intrigued by each other. Now that you think about it they would be perfect for each other. They're both successful and are having a stable life.

Right, everyone's life isn't as messed up as yours.

But that doesn't mean you can't be happy for them. I need to stop being so dramatic, you say to yourself and when you look up you can see Jungkook coming towards you with long strides, his face bright with a content smile. That brings a smile to your face too but before you can speak you're already in his arms.
