Serendipity || Kim Taehyung

6. First Day

You sit at your office desk taking in your surroundings. It is a spacious room with 4 cubicles including yours. The environment was exquisite for work. A huge glass window at one side illuminates the room with sunlight. Today as soon as you arrived here Mr. Kim's secretary Youngjae showed you the place and brought you here. He told you to wait here for a bit until you meet your department head, Mr. Kim Seok Jin. He informed you that most of your work will be with him as he is the head of your department.

You turn on your laptop as you thought it would be a waste of time if you sit here doing nothing. You go through the files and find one you were working on previously and start to work on it. You are busy with your work when a honey-like voice interrupts you. 

"I see you have quite something good in there."

When you turn your head to the other side you are met with an extremely handsome man standing behind your cubicle with hands in his pockets. His all-black attire with his raven head looked so unreal to you. His eyes were on your laptop screen, studying it. You just stare at him not knowing what to speak. As you were new should you introduce yourself first?

"Right I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Kim Seok Jin. I'll be guiding you from now," he speaks giving you the most charming smile and extending his hand towards you.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Kim. Glad to work with you," you say bowing your head and taking his hands.

"Please call me Jin." You give out a nervous laugh, not sure if he actually wants you to call him by his name. He was your senior and you didn't expect him to say that.

"Don't worry I'm trying to make you comfortable." He gives out a chuckle. 



"That's really kind of you sir."

When you entered the office today you were sure very nervous, you felt your hands sweating from time to time. But now seeing this man in front of you, you can feel that nervousness slipping away. He ushers you with him to his well-structured cabin. You can already tell that Seokjin is one of those 'nice guys'  who would always smile at you every time he sees you. He even asked if you wanted to have some coffee. 

Once you two are seated, he explains everything you will need to know to work with the team you were now a part of.



"I think that's all you need to know for now."


"Thank you so much, Seokjin. I'll make sure to give my best," you say with a smile.


 "Sure. Another thing, when I'm not here my brother Taehyung will be the one handling my work. So if you need any help you can ask him." 


As soon as that sentence leaves his mouth your smile drops. You are not really happy with the peace of information he just gave you. You twist your mouth nodding and form out an 'okay' involuntarily. You really didn't like that idea.


"Not really a fan of the boss? I see."


"It's nothing like that he is just so nice I'm impressed," you say sarcasm dripping from your voice. He catches that and laughs like a granddad who just heard the funniest joke from his 3-year-old grandkid.


"Don't worry everyone thinks that when they meet him but when you get to know him he is even worse."


"Oh my gosh, Jin, don't scare me." You say dramatically putting a hand on your chest. he laughs throwing his head back at your reaction.


"Don't worry even if he is scary you'll be just fine." He gives you a reassuring smile which you return with "I will". Of course, you will be fine. He is your boss, you work for him. You are great at your work and you just made a new friend on your first day of work who is your mentor. What could go wrong? You take the files that Seokjin gave you and return back to your cubical with that thought in your mind.
