Time skip: At Y/n's mansion -

Y/n"s POV -

Me and Kira woke up at the crack of dawn to leave. I asked her if she wanted to say goodbye to her parents, but she refused.

Kira: They are probably glad I'm leaving.

This made me think of my mother. When she thought I would never learn to be a demon slayer, she left me and my father behind. She didn't want to be associated with a failure.

I hoped that I could save Kira from the heartache.

It took us double the time to get back then it took me to get here on my own. Once we arrived at my place, I showed Kira to her room, and gave her some new clothes.

Y/n: These are for training. They are a lot easier to move in than what you're wearing right now.

Kira: Got it.

Y/n: I'll wait outside for you.

She nodded and I left her to change. I walked outside, and to my surprise, Kira was already there.

Y/n: Aren't you quick?

Kira: I wanted to beat you here.

We both giggled, and I gave her a wooden sword to practice with. My plan was to start with showing her how to breath, and than move onto the sword.

However, Kira wasn't the most patient.

Kira: But I want to learn the techniques!

Y/n: If you don't know how to breath properly, you can't do them. This technique may seem easy, but it's not. We need to take it step by step.

Kira: I guess...

She reminded me a lot of myself when I was her age. I smiled at the memories of Hana trying to explain everything to me.

Tengen: Who is this?

I froze. I had forgotten to tell Tengen about Kira.

Kira, not knowing who he was, confidently walked up to him, putting on her bravest face.

Kira: I'm her student, and you are?

I would've burst out laughing looking at Uzui's face, but I had to be a good role model for Kira.

Tengen: The flashiest man alive.

Kira put her hands on her hips and looked him up and down.

Kira: I don't see it.

Y/n: HA!

I covered my mouth with my hand, but I couldn't take it back. I have to admit, this girl has spunk.

Normally, Tengen would've gotten really defensive, but instead, he smirked at me and Kira.

Tengen: I like her, she is a lot like you.

I walk over, and stand beside Kira.

Y/n: Kira, this is Tengen Uzui. He is the sound pillar and my husband.

Kira looked at me and back at Tengen. She slowly nodded and turned to me.

Kira: My past teachers have already explained to me how to breath properly.

She showed me, and I was very impressed.

Kira: See?

Y/n: Can you do it constantly?

She tilted her head, and I sighed. Some teachers they must've been, she doesn't even know what that means.

Y/n: Can you do what you just showed me, but all day and night?

Kira thought about it, and shook her head. That's when my assistant, Mai, walked out of the house.

Mai: Lady Y/n, you are back. Would you like anything?

Y/n: No thank you. But, if it's not too much trouble, could you show this young girl to the training room?

Mai: Not a problem. Right this way.

Mai and Kira walked away, and left me and Tengen to talk.

Y/n: Have any of the girls reported back?

Tengen: Yes they have, and there is most definitely a demon there, but we can't act yet.

I nodded, and he hugged me. He waved goodbye, and I went to find Kira.

Kira: This is so dumb.

Mai: This is exactly how Lady Y/n trained to be a Hashira! It's not dumb!

Kira: Is too!

Mai: Is not!

Kira: Is to-

Y/n: Is there a problem?

They both became silent, and we began Kira's training.

Time skip: One month later -

Kira's POV -

I still can't believe this is happening. For the first time in forever, someone believed in me, and that alone drove me to train my hardest.

The breathing technique itself was very easy to learn, but super hard to do. I had mastered total concentration constant, so that made it a bit easier.

Y/n: Don't focus o the sword, focus on your body and the movement.

Me and teacher were out in the forest, and I was trying to master the 4th form. To do this, teacher would make me cut down trees using the forms until it was perfect.

She was very patient with me. If I fell she wouldn't scold me like the others had. If I cried, she didn't call me a baby. We worked at my pace, and it had been the best month of my life.
