Lana fiddled with her watch. She paced across the porch in anticipation. It had been ten minutes since Lucy was supposed to get out of school. It was Lucy's last day before summer break. She checked her watch, still only ten minutes.

"When will she get back?" She asked.

She couldn't wait for Lucy to get home. Tomorrow they'd be in Florida, visiting Lucy's aunt. two weeks in paradise. Just beach days and freezey pops. Checked the time, fifteen minutes.

"Come on Lucy!".

Lucy still had to pack, and Lana didn't want to be running around Lucy's apartment trying to help her pack like a chicken with its head cut off.

"Come on! It's been twenty minutes!".

Just then, a black car pulled up. It was Lucy's mom's car. A big smile appeared on Lana's face as she rushed down the stairs.

"Hi Lucy!" Lana said.

"Hi Lana! Are you excited for tomorrow?" Lucy asked.

"Of course! Come on, let's go pack!" Lana said as she dragged Lucy away.

They finished packing later that afternoon. Lana and Lucy's families were there to say goodbye to them.

"Now, be good for Lucy's aunt, okay?" Lana's mom said.

"Oh, she'll be alright. Our aunt is cool, right Lucy?" Lucy's sister said.

"Yeah! And we'll be really good. No need to worry."

"Alright, I trust you." Lana's mom said.

Just then the train pulled up.

"You ready?" Lana asked.

"Ready as I'll ever be!" Lucy said.

They stepped on the train. They went to their seats and huddled around the window as they waved goodbye to their families.

Lucy went to sleep while Lana looked out the window. Lana heard the pitter-patter of the rain as her town faded into the distance. She went to sleep shortly after they passed the second station.

The next day the train pulled up at the station. Lucy's aunt, Penny, was there to pick them up. Unfortionitly, the rain had followed them. Lucy Hated this! She wanted beach days, not rainy days. After a bit of driving, they got to Aunt Penny's house.

Lucy's sister used to live there, so all her old stuff was there including a clubhouse. Aunt Penny showed them to their rooms to unpack, and the girls got to talking.

"Wow! your aunt has a lot of cool cartoons!" Lana said as she checked out the DVDs.

"Yeah, she has a lot of those." Lucy said unenthusiastically.

"What's wrong?" Lana asked.

"It's just we've been stuck inside all day! I wanna go to the beach!" Lucy said.

"Well, how about we check out the clubhouse?" Lana asked.

"That sounds like a good idea!"

They ran through the rain to get to the clubhouse. The clubhouse in question was a re-purposed tool shed. If you took an adjacent path you could go to a small beach. Inside, there was a surfboard, two bikes, and a fish tank. It was a kid's paradise.

"I can not wait to spend the next two weeks here!" Lucy said.

That night they watched cartoons and ate popcorn in their pj's. Little did they know, something was happening at the beach.
